Trump refuses to re-certify the Iranian nuclear deal and announces new sanctions

I be surprised if Iran does not pull out of this deal.

President Trump unveiled a sweeping and aggressive new policy toward Iran on Friday, saying he will not re-certify the nuclear deal signed in 2015 and calling for a variety of new sanctions against the government in Tehran.

"The Iran deal is one of the worst and one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into," Trump said during a speech at the White House.

Saying the Islamic government in Tehran is dedicated to "death, destruction, and chaos all around the globe," Trump announced that the United States is adding new sanctions directed against Iran's Revolutionary Guard, which he called a supporter of international terror. The president also said he has started an investigation into whether Iran is cooperating with North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

It all sounds very like the rhetoric and lies the US used to justify their invasion of Iraq.

The European commision came out almost immediately after his statement and contradicted most of what he said.

It's a slippery slope to a major war. Trump has made it impossible for Iran to stick with this deal. Israel will be happy.

Yes Israel will be happy as Iran has threatened to wipe them out.
    Give Iran nuclear capabilities?
    Has the World gone mad!

Part that's left out. Iran threatens Israel if it's attacked. Do you expect Iran to sit and just watch Israel attack them? Israel was planning a attack late 2012 and had prepared for it and preparations were all set. Israel decided to wait to see if Romney would beat Obama and go along with their attack. They calculated wrong and Obama won a second term. The threat is real Isreal will attack Iran and only the nuclear deal kept them in check up till now.

No Iran unilaterally has threatened to destroy Israel.
It's part of their religious views also.

This was a good deal. It kept the peace. The only winners here are Israeli and American warmongers.

In 2016 the Iranian defence minister said if the USA pulled out of the deal they would turn Israel into dust along with threats to other Countries and start World War 3.

So you would give Iran a nuclear bomb?
Now that's what I call warmongering.

They both are engaged in threats. The reality is was Israel who was going to attack them. I don't play the sympathy card for Israel when they have imprisoned over 2 millions Palestinians with a economic and social blockade for decades. Israel is not going to keep themselves safe by attacking Iran.

Israel has nuclear weapons they have the ability to take Iran and any other enemy out if needed be. It's enemies will not survive, so it's pointless war.

It's just to save face, as it was one of his campaign pledges to dump this deal.

It will now be put to the US congress whether sanctions should be re imposed on Iran.

The deal is seen as a good deal by people even in the Trump cabinet, so nothing will come of this.

Maybe. It depends on what he watches on Fox News tonight, if they get behind him for this, he'll chase after it all the way.

Obviously, because as usual he's in his own fantasy world. Hopefully Iran and the EU can work it out and just ignore the states

He has imposed new sanctions on the revolutionary guards, their ballistic missile and has targeted the Iranian economy, support for proxies group. Trump has told Congress to re-negotiate the deal, or the deal is finished. Iran will not re-negotiate the deal is finished.

Trump:"If we are not able to reach a solution by working with Congress and our allies then the agreement will be terminated," Trump said. "It can be cancelled by me, as president, at any time."

Trump is looking for new terms or the deal is going to end.

Breaking: Iceland's president takes too hot bath, faints and breaks nose.

You just have to love a country where a hot bath and a broken nose is the most internationally newsworthy item about a president.

But no, all the US has to offer is a blustering moron and his dangerous shenanigans. Why can't he just slip in the shower and break his neck? I'm sure you'll here a global sigh of relief ...

Iran has a shambolic human rights record but its nowhere near as bad as Saudi Arabias who America continually do weapons deal after weapons deal with. Jekyll and Hyde foreign policy yet again from the yanks but its not surprising as the $$$$ is more important to them than any sort of morality.

I think the middle east would be much worse also without a strong Iran. Theyve helped stop the spread of ISIS in the region.

The right move by the president. It was a bad deal for the US and made a mockery of them.

All the Trump supporters. They can't let her go.

Regarding Trump himself, I doubt he could tell you a single thing in the nuclear deal.

There's fuck all the US/West and Israel can do about Iran's development as a regional power - the nukes thing is a red herring.

At this stage it seems clear that Trump doesn't have any actual policies of his own. Instead he is just trying to tear up everything Obama achieved.

Yeah that stopping North Korea from getting nuclear ICBM's was some achievement from Obama, oh wait that wasn't Obama he was too busy doing the talk show rounds telling jokes....

Trump has passed the issue to the US Congress.
He has told them to negotiate.

This is not possible, the deal is a multilateral one.

He is working hard to make the US presidency less and less relevant to the world.

His description of a billion dollars being flown to Iran as part of the deal made me laugh.

I thought of the 20 billion dollars that isis simply took from banks in iraq when they walked through the us backed ghost armies of Iraq.

Iran's supreme leader is opposed to having nuclear weapons, and they've a long history with opposition to weapons of mass destruction like chemical weapons.

It's a low bar, but they're probably the most liberal of the Middle East nations, especially since Rouhani has been in power. They've got a very young population, who are starting to become highly educated. If there's any nation in the Middle East that Western nations should be closer tied to, it's Iran imo.
