Is it safe to have a fire lit with a back boiler if the power goes out. Water boiling and no pump to circulate it??

    No it isnt safe.

If you do light it and the power goes....close all vents and draughts to it.

DO NOT POUR WATER ON IT

If gets very bad extinguish with a bucket of sand.

Rte just announced that the taoiseach will address the country at 10.40.

This should have been done yesterday to show the seriousness of the situation.

Leo missed his shot. Its times like this when a difficult decision needs to be made that you need somebody strong who is willing to make a call and stick with the decision. Leo is afraid to stick his neck out thats obvious now.

He should of ordered all non essential services and private businesses to stay closed and he should of done it yesterday evening.

We saw with the Budget how weak and superficial he is.. just as when he was a Minister - all spin and no substance.

So you expect Leo to know more about which services should run than the actual organisations themselves? It’s Not North Korea we’re living in.

National hurricane centre and Gerry Murphy at odds about the winds in the west

Not really,Gerry means Derry and donegal as northwest

    Nhc saying Galway to Sligo

Yeah, I'm not expecting too much here, a few trees and the odd power cut will probably be the worst of it as we're quite well sheltered.

Still a few more hours before it passes to the west.
I was more implying that the PP forgetting to pull up his flies would be considered high drama in Athlone ... :p:D

(Seriously lad, hope it passes ye and everyone else by without too much hassle ;) )
    All stand
Taoiseach to address the nation at 1040 am
    Leo aiming for a Moses-parting-the-Dead_Sea moment? :D

    Mid Kerry

Wind gust at 64.4 and pressure dropping down to 980.7 ..rain today at 3.6mm

Leo waiting until 10.40am this morning to address the nation.

Like, what do people expect him to say?
The last person I need to hear from while preparing for an event like this is the Taoiseach.

And tomorrow, when there is actual damage iin places around the country, who do I want to hear from? Not the Taoiseach.

it is quite windy here in Sandyford Dublin already. its raining too.

Bit late no? Poor performance, should have made an announcement yesterday. The storm will have hit the south by the time he comes on. Ridiculous situation!

Pathetic, he should have gone on the 9.00 o'clock news last night before people had to travel....
But sure you wouldn't expect anything else from Paddy Ireland......

Depends where in Cork you are. Baltimore currently 85km/h, city only 40km/h.
