People just passed on their horses here with 2 kids, some people are truly mental.

Anyway it's quite gusty, we're on a high altitude here in the the very southwestern backbutt of Wicklow.

Not going to be nice in certain areas of Wicklow as some are very exposed. Winds get funneled through valleys.
R116 is on scene along with Clogher Head Lifeboat

These guys (if still missing) are in serious trouble.

And we laugh at the Americans when a sheriff has to release a statement not to shoot at a hurricane.

If these guys went kite surfing then sorry fook them, the rescue crews should return to station.
There will be people in real need of their services.

In days gone by these muppets would be the ones eaten by a bear or wolves.

I am not allowed discuss …

It has not arrived yet to anywhere in the country.

Fair enough but if it's knocking trees, and hoardings (outside Kent station), and causing power outages...I don't want to see what it will do when it "arrives"'.

The point in trying to make is that we are an island +we get battered by storms all the time especially on the west. So far we have had much worse storms then this. Yes things might change but not so far. So yes I do think over hyped. I know it's not hit Dublin yet but hasn't hit a lot of South coast as bad as they said either.

So far.......but thats because it hasnt hit land yet, are you watching, listening to, reading anything or just using your own clearly expert opinion?

No crackers out of Theresa there, pity.

How are people filling their time, if you're at home? We're just sitting around, playing board games, reading and drinking tea. Feels a bit like Christmas morning long after all the presents have been opened.

Was having a conversation there 5 minutes ago about how calm it is in Kilkenny only to be met with the loudest roar I've ever heard from a gust. Felt like it shook the house.

Thats me put firmly back in my box.

Absolutely stupid to be out wind surfing on a day like today

So selfish to be putting the lives of the rescue crew in danger

You just don't understand the lure of that wave.

Or so my surfer friends tell me.

Long time reader of this thead, first time poster

Firstly am facinated by how much I have learned about hurricanes in the last 4 days.

Just wondering is there anything we can compare this to online- do other places get effected by these type of tropical storms?

    Stay safe everyone!

Some really strong gusts just now here in south Kerry, strong enough to knock twigs and branches off all trees and as it stands right now it must be completely knocking some trees down.
It's a bit frightening how much stronger it gets the closer the center comes.
Tv losing signal can't see power lasting very long!!

I said that last night, someone would try and surf in it. There's always someone who does something like that.

Much stronger here in West Dublin. Couple of light branches in the back coming loose and lots of moss from the roof hitting the skylight.
