A nice gust just took out the bunting.
Ha I was wondering how long it would take for the bunting to come loose!

M50 will surely close soon - that toll bridge would be rather exposed

Can't get over the amount of trucks and other traffic on the road.

Wind is absolutely howling through Cork City. House next to the brewery just lost a bunch of roof tiles.

Almost got a whack in the head off a flying branch by the post office at Military Hill, It wasn't too big but wouldn't have been nice to get it in the eye.

Any of these idiots surfing or swimming or whatever should do it off their own backs and if they get into trouble away with them.

Rescue people shouldn't have to risk their lives for idiots who brought it on themselves.

They should have to face massive fines for the call out

nothing whatsoever in Portmarnock now. Was a wee bit breezy earlier.

It's not actually very windy on the balcony, where we are is kinda covered a bit but you can hear it.

Was Debbie a true hurricane when it hit Irish shores in 1961?

Was it also an Ex-hurricane with hurricane force gusts?

No. We can't get hurricanes. Michael Fish was technically right in 1987 too.
Something to do with the colder waters and wind shear. Others with more knowledge than me, will provide a better explanation.

This is utter ****ing insanity in cork right now. All I'm short of seeing in Anderson cooper or Chris cuomo from CNN standing outside.

But yet you are banging on about the "Leader" and the state responsibilities :pac:
Non stop warnings for days. Yet you want to focus on the Taoiseach instead. It's just bizarre.
And no, I'll post where I like. I don't need to ask your permission to do so and call out your babyish tripe.

God youre dimmer than I thought. The Taoiseach has ultimate responsibility as the lead Department coordinating the emergency reports to him. Theres nothing bizarre other than you trying to tie in some political dimension. The leader of the country most certainly has a role in communicating the message no matter what political party he is with. I really care about who he represents. He represents the people of the country when he accepts the Taoiseachs responsibilities. Go back to bed.

Just took in the last of the washing (nearly dry); occurred to me that the rotary line might actually break or take off with the sheets. Garden furniture in/collapsed, clothes line ditto, bins into the garage. Keeping the windows closed. Not sure what else one can do 8-)
Have a cup of tea. Go on, go on, go on, go on ...

Lol, j/k, but there's no point treating this like the end of the world either. ;)

Use common sense, stay safe, and tomorrow it will all be over. ;)

Not over hyped if you're in cork.

  • Registered Users Posts: 160 ✭✭stevenup7002

I think you're overreacting. I'm also in Clonmel.

It's not really the power of the storm now I'm worried about, it's the fact that it's as bad as it is and still has a few hours to get worse.

Also, experiencing a brownout now. Lights are extremely dim etc. Wondering if I should turn power off at the trip switch to prevent damage to appliances?

Neighbours ash trees down (one in my garden!) garden wall gone and timber pergola in 10 pieces, Carrigrohane end of Model Farm Road, Cork. It's vicious here now.
