I dont think its going to be as bad as everyone thinks

Bully for you, care to give us your reading on the models to back up this opinion?

Because I just love when people assume that they know more than those with science degrees specific to the topic of conversation

I would not advise that. That's totally exposed.

Rain gone from spotty to persistent west of Galway.

You definitely don't want to be out where you are tomorrow :D
Drove out your way a few weeks ago. Nothing there but water and a few bad roads!

You're obviously part of the " we don't need experts " bridage. Worked well that in the uk !

Would would be the estimated arrival time of this storm for the west coast/Galway area? Will it last for 6 hours maximum?

Have a look at MTC’s updated forecast

I'm in Clondalkin, and just had a peek out the window: there is a yellowy tinge to the sky, and it is very foggy.

Very foggy in D18 as well

    She's some legend!
I love the way sometime at the end of a weather broadcast she gives a cheeky little wink, my favorite weather woman!
I love Joanna. Remember the first time I saw her do the weather and thought she was a cool chick.

Yeah, Joanna was playing a blinder today. Very impressed with her broadcasts.

She's able to put a degree of emotion into her forecasts that gets peoples attention rather than just going through the technicalities

Fog has cleared a good bit in d18, there's a tower crane about 200m away from me and i couldn't see the top of it about an hour ago.

What's the estimated time for this storm to hit Galway?According to what i read earlier it will last from 3 to 6 hours in any given area.

South coast early morning, moving up across the country, you'll have it later in the morning but it'll be an all day event into the early hours of Tuesday.

Anyone else from Galway? We are in for a scuttling. I was a bit slow on the uptake about how severe it's actually going to be and now I'm genuinely bricking it.

I'm around 6 miles north of Tuam and on a hilltop. Have all preparations done and am not bricking it but kind of excited to see what Ophelia brings. Will hopefully get some good footage of her when she is at her fiercest (from a safe vantage point of course).

I'm looking at this like if it's unsafe for teachers, bus drivers to go to work and kids to go to school then it's equally unsafe for me to travel to work.
My dog has so quite today and brought him for a walk tonight but couldn't get him to pass the front gate. He knows ****s going down in a few hours

You should be OK until the afternoon, unless I've mis-read MTs updated forecast . I'm working in Galway city, planning to head home around 12

High tide in Dublin around 10am tomorrow morning and around 2.30pm in Galway, best avoid the coastline at these times.

It will be bad but not near as bad as the doomsday merchants on boards.ie reckon.

Damn it. I was hoping for something a bit more "otherworldly".
