It HAS brightened up a bit alright, and the wind does seem to have died down a little...patch of blue sky over Bishopstown now <shock>

would suggest that we have a way to go though.

Still very bad in Carrigaline. Very strong winds and heavy rain fall.

Think half the country has been glued to that site! Guess it will be late afternoon 'til we're clear.

Came across the pic of Turner's X earlier on, no match tomorrow anyway for sure.

Thankfully a false alarm, someone just confirmed the bridge is still there

The AA reporting trees down in many location - including Rochestown Rd, Sth Douglas Rd and Monkstown.

Does anyone have detailed info on the route Douglas to Passage West please? I need to travel later on. Is Rochestown Road passable or the high road via the monastery. Thanks.

There's a guy in the field in front of my house with a chainsaw - he drove into the estate, spotted the uprooted tree, parked his van and started sawing.
Seems a bit mad, considering it's still pretty windy.

Someone was killed doing that very same thing.

Got out for a bit of a walk when the sun came out for an hour earlier & there was some amount of broken slates on the ground outside the Tesco on Paul St, some building there must have been shedding them at a rate of knots. Hopefully nobody was nearby when they came down.

It's still pretty windy in the city. There was a lull for a bit- but it really has picked up again.

I'm glad there were no injuries, but that is sad to see.

Any reports of flooding in cork city area?

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Finished up work yesterday about 10am and went up to herself, shes not far from th airport, on the City side and the winds were very high from about 11 until 3 and about 5 until 9.

No damage apart from an over turned plant and bird feeder, didnt seem to be any trees or poles down around the area either which was lucky.

Seen a portion of the neighbours fence alright had gave way and was in bits in the garden a few houses down the road.

The Marina was still blocked too this morning.

There was a barrier up warning people not to go through by the bakery and up further by the small lane across from the church but someone in their wisdowm moved them this morning so a que of cars had to turn back over a fallen tree up by the Atlantic pond across the entire road.

I just stayed indoors for the day and helped with the clean up yesterday. One very positive thing I saw yesterday was the local scout group, they set up a hot tea/coffee/soup stand in the local school for people who were without cooking facilities due to the power cut....a lot of people were glad of the help. Fair play to a community minded group of youngfellas/lassies.

Anybody know if the marina/centre park road is passable for cyclists wishing to use the Blackrock/Mahon walkway?
