If those photos of Cork really were taken at 21:46 then I'd be concerned about flooding in the morning. High tide was 18:34 this evening and with strong winds arriving around 6am to 8am and coinciding with morning high tide @ 06:51 and more overnight/morning rain then Cork may not be looking so beautiful in the morning. Hopefully those pics were taken earlier in the evening. But certainly would be watching south west closely around 6am to 8am for flooding risks

Brian has alot to answer for ,all training cancelled tomorrow. I'm not convinced myself that it will be that bad.
Enough rain fell today to make the rugby pitch unplayable though.

Getting wild just south of Mallow, I would imagine Rockchapel and Newmarket will get hit hard enough.

    18Z ICON

Bit dubious about the strength of the winds shown in this model ( to me seem to be overstated a bit ). Putting it up here more so to go back on Sunday to see how it performed.

    2246 update from Met Eireann

Becoming extremely windy in Southern parts tonight, especially near to the West and South coast with stormy conditions expected here as the Southerly winds veer Westerly and bring the risk of coastal flooding. In the north winds will be fresh or strong Southeasterly. Some dry spells at first but showers or longer spells of rain will become widespread with the risk of thunder. Lowest temperatures will stay around 9 to 12 degrees.

    Tomorrow

Extremely windy or stormy in the South and West on Saturday morning with the risk of coastal flooding. In the afternoon, strong to gale force Northwest winds will develop countrywide with winds reaching strong gale force around coasts. Showers or longer spells of rain, with a risk of thundery downpours, will continue to feed in across the country. Some brighter spells also. Top temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees.

Thats a strange wind direction, mostly between SSE and SSW. Low 966 still a fair bit west of the mouth of the Shannon

    Strange for where?
Detail is from weather station. Have checked and Met Eireann also giving winds south or south east becoming northwest. Mountain range also influences wind direction locally in my experience. Pressure reading confirmed on two different digital barometers. Altitude above 120 m asl.

Heavy rain started in last 20 minutes
