Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Clearly a yellow card.

Woah. Kicking off between Cookie and Pep.

What did Pep run back towards the tunnel, from the dressing room door for, just as The Beeb went back to the studio.

    Worth two yellows. Rotten tackle.

Thought it was a red myself

Deserved red card for Delph right at the end of the first half. Stupid tackle, no need for it, wreckless, studs were showing and went through the player. Wigan have played well tonight. This should help them in the second half.

    First instinct that was red.
Delph needs to be coached on tackles it seems. Some really silly fouls last ten minutes that half. (Did a Wigan player get into his head?)

I wonder will Pep talk about his player dirty tackles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

Pep throwing his toys out again. Lunge, over the ball, studs showing, right decision.

VAR would have been interesting for that red

Wondering did something else happen though, as the ref was clearly holding the yellow card .

    Filthy tackle from Fabian delph.
Straight red and city have looked vulnerable at the back all night so far

Pep and the City medics have already issued a statement saying that the Wigan player has had his leg amputated and will never play again......

Yeah, was thinking yellow at first but it was a lunge and if he made full contact with the Wigan player, he would have broken the lads leg.

Just like Alli and Kane at our place. Funnily enough, no red cards for them. If the refs were consistent, I could live with it.

Red aside think the ref has been awful tonight. Wigan had a counter on and he pulled city player up on the foul that he wanted to commit. Delph/fernandinho ( I keep confusing them) blatantly obstructed a runner and nothing given.
Sane penalised for a high foot that was barely higher than knee height.

He's an awful referee. One of many, unfortunately.

Never let go of those tackles

Apparently ref had yellow out to record red but it was always going to be a red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Just seen the tackle, can't really complain, he had no control and it was pretty reckless.

Still think it's probably a red but it's horrific refereeing to just change your mind, most likely down to the cries from the opposition. Has this been the worst season of refereeing ever? Huge reform needed.

Yeah I agree, zero consistency and untouchable refs

I love pep too but his overreaction was awful if it was any other manager they would be charged by the fa or sent to the stand by the lino or ref

Why would you record a red card offence on a yellow card? I don't buy that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 686 ✭✭✭Flincher

100% red for me. Lunged at the opponent with a high foot at force, clearly endangering the opponent. Ticks the boxes for a red.

Is it not more likely that the ref got a call from the linesman rather than was bullied into changing his mind?

Finally, the whataboutery is so frustrating. Ya, Kane and Alli should have seen red, but that can't be used as a stick to beat today's officials. Every team in the world has had opponents escape reds. Doesn't mean they're immune from sanction themselves. They got this one right. Move on.

Surely the linesman said something in the ear piece. Most likely when he saw the yellow. If not, what a terrible way to come to the right decision.

According to tweet verse Martin Tyler said they enquired at half time and were told the red was referees initial decision he just took out yellow first to record his red.

Have you ever seen a referee, about to issue a straight red card, pull out the yellow card? I haven't.

Just when you think you can somewhat like Pep, the mask slips and his true form comes out.

    I actually have....tonight.

But seriously, something must have been said. Can't believe he took out the yellow to write something down. Don't think it was the players

    Pfft passion.
Jeez Gav like. He's obviously praising everyone.

The ref issued one card, a red one. The fact he had a yellow in his hand first means nothing.

The way some are acting, it is as if he issued a yellow, restarted the game, then issued a red at half time.

I like what he's done with City, it's cost a fortune but they're a team on the verge of PL history but incidents like that is just utterly embarrassing.

Can see a Wigan player getting sent off very soon

Ya, the ref's desperate to even the sides up.
