Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Blocking just now and the ref says no foul on moura,, going to be a long night at this rate

    I love you sonny!

How come in Rugby their version of VAR almost always results in the right decision, but in football to date its been meh at best?

Well done Son, well taken goal.

Jesus, this VAR is an absolute joke. That was a free outside the box, not a peno.

Var again penalty for a foul on Tripp

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Booking Son for that...what the actual ****.

VAR needs to be pulled till they can sort it out. Such a complete mess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Well this game ain’t short of talking points.

Correct call for disallowing the goal as he stops his run up.

Edit: or maybe not. Looks like player can be cautioned and as he scored, it should be retaken.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

He should retake it this ref can't get anything correct

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    Hahahaha

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Do you not get to retake them now? Apparently not.

Rochdale just scored. Just whole game is a farce.

One all foyth could not cut the final ball out

Mad first 30mins in the game.

VAR isn't as stream lined as it should be if it was, it would be a huge asset.

What's even stupider is the BT commentary team not understanding why Son was booked, as soon as he done it I knew it would be disallowed. That rule change came in recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

Should be 3-1 ,the ref is a ballbag

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Apparently the penalty call was right (disallowing it, shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place). Crazy that a player gets booked for that now...doesn't make much sense to me.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

1st goal should have stood, penalty should have been given for the challenge on Moura, penalty shouldn't have been given for the Trippier penalty, and goal was disallowed with a yellow card for Son.

If nothing else, it's interesting :P

Interesting? GUBU might be more appropriate.

Its a joke, we cut back to the play and we don't even know what the decision was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

    Great early goal by Lorrente.
Don't let these lads off the hook the forwards we have are still capable of putting 5 past Rochdale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

    Moura gets his first assist,.
Lorrente again . Coys we want 5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

    Lorrente hattick we want,7

Can they change the ball, can't see it anymore.

  • Registered Users Posts: 933 ✭✭✭Salvation Tambourine

Although we seemed to have moved on from VAR:

Disallowed goal - VAR used because a goal is automatically checked as it's a game changing incident. Clear and obvious doesn't come into the equation seemingly. Deemed Llorente dragged back the defender denying him a chance to clear the ball.

Lucas Moura penalty claim - Referee made a decision, not deemed clear and obvious.

Penalty - Referee team said free kick, I'm not sure if it was that clear and obvious that the foul went on into the box and maybe it could not have been used but came to the right decision. Foul carried on into the penalty area.

Penalty infringement - Looks like the referee made his own decision, which was incorrect and I believe the VAR should have been aware that feinting in the run up is fine and recognized that the referee made a clear and obvious error there. However, when Chris Foy tells the watching public that the ref got it right you'd have to wonder if the referees know the law.

Great through ball from Lucas and unselfish from lamela to set up sonny to walk it in

VAR is a disaster partly because the slightest contact is often deemed a foul.

In any other sport, bar rugby in very particular circumstances, calls are very easy when it can be seen again. In tennis, the ball is out or not. In cricket, he nicked it or he didn't. It's LBW or it isn't.

So many of football's rules are wide open to interpretation. People can barely reach any consensus on what a foul is.

I’d restrict VAR to ruling whether a goal is offside or not after goal line technology has indicated the ball has crossed the line. Its proving too cumbersome for anything else IMO.

Which is why if it's not concrete proof, you stick with the original decision. That's what's killing VAR. Look at replay, look at the 3/4 different angles. Make decision. If it's too difficult to call, then go with whatever was decided originally.

It's the implementation rather than the idea that's killing it.

I'd make it simple. If the attacker moves his leg out sideways towards the defender as he's going down (they're usually already on the way), then no penalty, not even if the defender is hitting him with a pickaxe handle at the time.

    Man U will get Southampton/Wigan.

There is a chance that will happen. I fancy Leicester to turn over Chelsea this afternoon. Think they will catch them on the break.

Not sure who to cheer for in this last quarter.
I hate Chelsea slightly more than Leicester so come on you team of sheite Gary linekers!

I'm shouting for Chelsea, only because Leicester have a bog awful shíte grass design on the pitch. It actually is hard to look at.
    Way too psychedelic for me.

Mahrez dicking around till he lost the ball then they get hit on the break.

Just looking at the Schmeichal save from Morata there, looks like Morata fluffed both of the shots.. could have done way better there

Should have let his defenders deal with it, they heard him call for it and backed off a bit, I’ve no doubt it would have either been dealt with or comfortably in his arms if he stayed put
