Legal Project - Offer and Acceptance

I'm having trouble with a legal project, I'm conflicted as to whether the seller was right or wrong to sell a car after promising it another buyer. The case is that an advertisement was posted to sell a car, the plaintiff went to look at the car and was tempted but wanted to have a look around first, although the seller was quite eager to sell and gave the plaintiff a note explaining that they will sell them the car for 1500 euro but if the plaintiff isn't interested they must notify the seller within a week. The next day the plaintiff contacted the seller to accept the offer although after saying they want to buy the car, they were notified that the car was already sold. Was the note an offer and by taking it did the plaintiff accept it? Was the seller in the right to sell to another person? Thanks in advance.

If there is offer and acceptance where is the consideration?
