Recommend gift relating to Science for 7-8yr old

    Could anyone recommend a good gift that would be related to science, that they would find exciting and enjoy! It is for a 7-8 year old

    Can't post link but if you have a look a at maplin.ie and check out their science/hobbies sections, I picked up a car for my nephew (7yrs) last year, he had to build it himself and it was powered using saltwater and he loved it, he would really be into science also.
    They seem to have a lot of unusual things that may suit.
