Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    This may be of interest:

    TALLAGHT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
    ILLLUSTRATED LECTURE
    "INTERNATIONAL RIFLE SHOOTING IN DUBLIN
    IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY"

    CORMAC F. LOWTH.

    SOUTH COUNTY LIBRARY, .
    TALLAGHT , DUBLIN
    TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24TH. AT 7.00. P.M.

In the 1870s, a series of international rifle shooting matches took place between teams from Ireland and America. The contests took place at the rifle ranges at Dollymount in Dublin, and at Creedmore, in Queens, New York. These matches generated huge interest on both sides of the Atlantic. The distances fired, with open sights, were 800, 900 and 1000 yards, and phenomenal accuracy was achieved. Cormac F. Lowth will be giving a detailed account of the contests and their background and will be showing a host of rare and interesting illustrations in connection with these. The rifles used by the Irish Team were made by Rigbys, the Dublin firm of gunmakers, and Cormac will be including a most interesting
account of the history of this iconic Company, whose factory and shooting gallery were located in Suffolk Street and Wicklow Street in Dublin.

See South County Dublin Library website - AFAIK this is open to all.
