Hi I have full no claims on a commercial policy, excess of 12 years.
If I were to change to a car and go to private, can I bring my no claims over, or is there some limit/exclusions?

....it's been a long time since I looked this, but the short answer then, was 'no'. However, if you can get confirmation from your company's current insurer of your length of time on-cover, and confirming no claims, you might get the equivalent of 'named drivers' discount.

If you're company uses a broker, let them try to get you a private policy with the same company you currently have your company insurance with, that might help, but it's only a 'might'.

****ty thing, I know, but like BIK, the 'company car' thing always comes back to bite you in the end.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The only way you will find out for sure is to contact the various insurance companies directly. Take an hour to phone the main ones up and then maybe a broker.

My OH did, he was insured commercially with Aviva bit through a broker and was taking out a private car policy when he no longer had a commercial vehicle.
He still had to jump through hoops and get confirmation of ncb from broker who had to get it Aviva and them send it on to Aviva
