2 cracking games on at the moment. Watson and Wilson have both been impressive.

Good shout! It’s rare that I’d be watching when there are only two games on

Are those throwback jerseys for Washington? You'd think they'd splash out on helmets in the same colour.

You’re not allowed change helmets mid season I don’t think. You can change the decal like the Rams do but not the actual helmet.

I might have dreamt all this but I think I read that somewhere.

    I love these unis though.

Typical Redskins. 3 drives ending in FG attempts and in a half they’ve been the better team they’re down by a point.

Need to come away with more 7s when they get in to the red zone. Been a problem for a couple of seasons now.

Yeah, recent enough change it seems. Only one helmet per season, for health and safety reasons.

I'm not liking it tonight, but Watson is very, very good.

Why is the Seahawks mascot dressed as a bag of skittles?

Don't think anyone would have predicted seattle-Houston to be a shootout.

This is something else. Love Hopkins refusing to celebrate.

Would be a huge result for Texans. Cmon.

Maybe a reference to Marshawn Lynch, who eats a lot of skittles between plays. Bit weird though since he last played there in 2015.

Seahawks Texans game of the year candidate.

    Wilson with another miraculous escape

Edit: and then throws a bad int

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

The weather is bailing out the Redskins. Cowboys have dropped two INTs.

    Sickening for the texans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Well Wilson made that look easy.

Bill O'Brien needed to go for it on 4th and 2 rather than punt it. Texans secondary too poor. Uuuuuuughhhh

Only themselves to blame unfortunately. Offense failed to make just two 1st downs to win and then the defence sh*ts itself.

That 47y pass was sublime though

You just got to love Bills disdain for some reporters.

And I’m not a Pats fan

Man I hate beating on the browns but if they signed Watson they would have killed his career,

Sure some genius in the browns organisation actually said on radio that Carson wentz wasn't a top 20 QB. I know hindsight is 20/20 but the stat today on NFL network of the browns having the same amount of starting QBs since 1999 as they had in the fifty years before they moved to baltimore says it all.

But right now I'd say you're some happy man with that finish!

I'm glad head office didn't want him he is doing wonders for us, watched a documentary on them and between bad management and just bad luck with players i don't know how fans stick it out and not go mental

The long list of QBs is kind of a mix of two problems. Sometimes they make stupid picks because they're the Browns, like Johnny Manziel, and overlook good picks for the same reason, like Wentz. But realistically, the way they run the actual team is disastrous for the development of a QB anyway, so any guy who goes there will end up looking a bit sh1t. I don't know much about how the organisation is run, but the way they've dealt with Kizer is an absolute clusterfcuk. If I was a 1st round QB, I would demand a trade, Eli-style, because going to that QB graveyard is a guaranteed career-shortener.

Ben with an over throw and bad INT.

Lions are getting some extremely generous calls so far from the refs over what constitutes a pass/interception, and what constitutes pass interference.

Rare Bell fumble turns 13-9 into 10-12

Serious "home cooking" as Antonio Brown gets a very light OPI call against him to nullify a TD.

    Ho-lee sh*t what a hit from Diggs!

I thought it was a pretty blatant opi to be honest. Too bad the lions have been allergic to the goal line & now the Steelers may be out of sight.

It normally would be, but not after the non-calls for DPI on the Lions in the first half.

My god, Juju whathisface looks like a star in the making though, doesn't even turn 21 for nearly another month!

They were far from clear cut dpi I would of thought. The Steelers have been fairly handsy themselves.
Christ the lions red zone offence is pathetic.

Lions very lucky to not get called for roughing the passer there. Think they might be getting a TD this drive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Lionbacker

Well that's a game that can be labelled under "the one that got away". The lions carved them up all night like no other team has done this season, but just couldn't get into the end zone.
A gilt edged opportunity to keep up with the Vikings wasted.

Great win that, two turnovers and no TDs. Not Ben's greatest performance.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

Yeah, that's got to be heart breaking - apparently the 3rd most yards ever without getting a TD, and close enough to first that another drive would have probably done it.

Just terrible game management all round from the Lions there.

What's mental is a friend in Vancouver is watching this. I text him "Ben has been pretty brutal tonight" - boom, 97 yard TD. Later I text him after Juju's drop "some terrible passes from Ben, and terrible drops when he's on targets. Lions seem to be catching everything though" - boom, Tate's fumble turnover. At the end I text him "refs have been pretty lenient tonight on PI and Lions quite disciplined" - boom, DPI call all but kills the game, then Lions get a player ejected.

Sorry Lionbacker, I think the result today is on me. :o

At the end though, #91 was dumb to strike back for the ejection, but Spence (#97) was just a flat out gobsh*te if you watch that second last play again.

Don't really believe in superstition so your'e off the hook in my eyes. Just bad execution in the red zone is what cost them.

A very frustrated team acting out at the end. We'll have to see if league takes any further action.

    Phew! :o

I'd expect fines but probably not anything more; I think there will also be leniency given all things considered.

Just saw a stat on how bad the Lions red zone offence was last night.

They ran 17 plays inside the RZ & gained just 9 yards! In addition to that, only three of those 17 plays gained more than a single yard.
    Horrendous:mad:

What's crazy about both teams in the redzone last night is, I went to look at how they have been this season. Before kickoff last night the Steelers were 3rd worst in the redzone across the league, I knew they were bad there but not that bad. The Lions on the other hand were 5th best, just a crazy aberration all in all.

Steelers really need to revert to quick, short plays and allowing Brown, Juju and Bryant (as well as Bell) to make explosive plays from them - they're great at blocking and setting up lanes on these plays too. He struggled last night but they also need to let Bell carry it a lot and along with Brown really be the cornerstones of the offense. Ben is still a good QB, but his deep shots last night and this season in general were very lacking. Yet earlier in the year and for big chunks of last night they were playing like it was a game of Madden, 30 yard deep shot after 30 yard deep shot, very few of which looked particularly threatening and balls that had very little zip on them compared to what we are used to from Ben. Their defense had a rough one in the open field last night (but came up huge in the redzone over and over), though they're typically a really good unit - they need to stop letting the offense hinder them because with both sides clicking they are a very scary team.

Both teams in the redzone, perhaps the Lions moreso, seemed to lack a bit of patience last night compared to when you see the Patriots or Packers (with Rodgers) in there; maybe an unfair comparison with who they each have at QB but there are some less glamorous teams good at grinding through there too. 1st and goal on the 10, you need to be very happy to take 4-6 yards rather than going for 6 on all plays.
