I have monitors, keyboards, etc lying about at home

Would you guys recommend this in a performance per euro aspect.
I'm not looking for a gaming machine or anything, just a performance upgrade from my laptop, which runs like ass tbh

Also, is it easy to upgrade the ram on this model

    Cheers

Any sort of word processing/internet browsing shouldn't be an issue IMO. I'd say go for it if you just want a general use machine.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

Here's the tech specs of that machine, what it has and what you can upgrade.

To be honest, I'd pick one up just to chuck Peppermint OS on it.

    Where did you see them?

Santry is listing two in stock here...

EDIT: odd the search page lists them at 85e, but the actual product page as 150e!

EDIT 2: Jaysus, I was looking at the wrong model...

Cork, Grand Parade have the two by the looks of it.

Yes, RAM upgrade is easy on desktop PCs.

TBH it won't make too much difference though.
Also be aware that unless the Windows install is 64-bit, it can't use more than 4Gb anyway.

If you buy on Ebay you will get a better machine for the same money, but CEX do offer a 2 year warranty which is handy. It would be decent for the normal stuff - office, browsing, etc. Depends really on how slow the hard drive is, some of those old machines have crappy ones which makes the machine seem a lot slower than it should or could be.

One left now. Picked one up yesterday. It runs grand so far (Win 7 pro 64 bit) but the GPU is a right piece of **** - 64MB dedicated memory. But it certainly runs better than my lappy running win 10. Scores were all good in Windows experience besides gaming graphics.

Adventure Capitalist wouldn't even work without updating the drivers. I've downloaded Hearthstone so will try that and the Zup! series run grand although a Commodore 64 could run those.

Funnily enough I thought I was goosed for a cable (no hdmi) but I bought a cheap monitor off Amazon a few months back, and amazingly there was a VGA cable in the box.

Well worth it imo good to be back on Windows 7

Just get a 2nd hand low profile GPU for HDMI or very light gaming capabilities. Something like a 2GB GT640 low profile can be had for about €30 and anything that'd run OK on an old Core2Duo would run fine on it as well. No point spending anymore though otherwise you'll ending up paying more than you would have for a machine twice as fast on Ebay or the like!

    Hearthstone actually runs grand.
Looks lovely too compared to my lappy.

Check out my current sound system lol. Cost me about 50 cent off Ali express. Actually isn't that bad.

That machine will run a Quad core Q9400, with 16G of ram, it will be a decent machine.

A little bit fussy about Ram sticks tho.. Defo not Lo Voltage.
