Hi guys. Phillips 42" I got from ye a few years back has just developed a purple vertical line bang in the middle in the last few days so I don't think it's going to last much longer.

So I need some recommendations and prices.

While I'm happy to go up in size a bit I'll probably get shot down on anything other than a minimal increase.

What with the wide bezel on the current tv I could possibly get away with up to a 49". Some of the measurements suggest the overall tv would only be about 3" wider than the current one anger within a few mmm in height.

It's the only way I'll get something bigger than the 42".

First thing she said when I showed her the problem - "you're not getting a bigger one" 😂

I don't think I'd be overly bothered by UHD.

Viewing is from about 3m normally straight on.

I'm not bothered about speaker quality as I've got an amp and speakers to connect to.

    Hey Lochlannach.

In a 49" you could look at the following.

    LG 49UJ670 priced at £569.00
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202502-49uj670v.aspx

    Sony 49XE7002 priced at £579.00
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202708-bravia-kd49xe7002.aspx

    Panasonic 49EX600 priced at £599.00
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202558-viera-tx49ex600b.aspx

There are a few others going upwards in price depending on what your budget would be.

The LG, Sony & Panasonic seem ok. Which one would you recommend?

Would you recommend a FHD/UHD? There's another Panasonic on your site that's a FHD - is that going to be better/worse?

I might wander into a few places tomorrow and see if they've any of those models to view.

    Hi Lochlannach,

I would recommend a UHD TV over a FHD TV as not only are you future proofed, the FHD TVs tend to have slightly lesser spec panels than the UHD ones so with a UHD TV you'll be getting better motion and contrast as well as more natural colour and the ability to play a 4K source in the future.

Let me know what you think if you see the models running.

    Kind regards

    David
