Interestingly, despite all the money in the French game, they are not exactly dominating Europe this season.

    Despite or because?

The French system is a bit of an anomaly still. It did indeed look like the way forward when Toulon were dominating but it turns out that that was simply the normal course of events of a good team having a good period (see Leinster or Saracens).

Ah yeah, anyone would take it.

It's not really of interest to this forum, but there is a bit of talk in the NZ media about what the NZRU is or can do to stop the flow north. I don't see any way they can or should compete with that offer though.

It's only a rumour, but I wouldn't necessarily be shocked.

I don't think too many in the NH lose too much (any?) sleep over it, but I think rugby would be poorer if SA, Australia and NZ became easy beats.

Interestingly, despite all the money in the French game, they are not exactly dominating Europe this season.

the change in the age profile of player coming up is concerning. the piutaus and sopoagas are coming much earlier than is comfortable.

i think south africa and australia have already been goosed.

And two red cards. And no French childishness.

So seems a lot more went right this time.

nah the english fella got up

Dead right. French rugby will never improve if they can't even deliberately smash a guy's shoulder to pieces properly, then act like they're somehow the victim.

Sorry about this dumb question but since when can you kick for the corner after the 80 mins has elapsed?

England were twice able to go for the corner with the game dead.

Reading an excellent rugby book « World in conflict ».

Among other things I’ve learned, Leinster chased Israel Dagg and Dane Haylett-Petty before securing James Lowe.

That was a long, long time before they went after Lowe

Anyone see this? Du Plessis and what I presume is the replacement Montpellier hooker throwing punches in the warm up
    https://twitter.com/limasopoaga/status/972625963900067841

They went to beat Racing by 40 points!

Nathan Hines didn't look too bothered.

Yeah, and he had a perfect view of it. Because Hines' sight is 20/20.

Best rugby book I've ever read (not that the bar was that high), so much so that I finished it in one day.

Chris Ashton scored 3 tries for Toulon this weekend putting him on 20 T14 tries for this season. This gives him 6 matches to score two more and break Nalaga's single season record of 21.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,454 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Just think what he could have done if he'd applied himself.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 393 ✭✭Didactic Ninja

    Stockdale reminds me of Ashton.

Not much swerve or jink. Not much chip and chase.
    Just rigid straight line running.
The stats speak for themselves though. Tries are tries.

I’ve Nothing to back it up. Just an asthetical view from the barstool

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,653 ✭✭✭✭MJohnston

It's more like the view from after you've fallen blind drunk off of the barstool.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,166 ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

Straight runner, scores loads of tries. Reminds me of a certain NZ player with a double barrelled surname
