    classic 6 nations moment

Paddys day 2007, last day of the championship, to start off the day Ireland beat Italy 51-24 and France had to beat Scotland by 24 or more or Ireland win the title

heartbreaking day for Ireland, bloody TMO

Us letting Italy score a try with the last play of the game I think is more disappointing, it was gone 80 minutes and we turned over the ball. Would have made THAT tmo decision a moot point.

It was cause we were trying to score one more. The problem with not knowing what you have to put up.

Even at the time I was practically screaming at them to end the game. We’d made a few changes and weren’t on the front foot as much. Didn’t Italy get a score not long before that as well?

There was quite a good documentary on BBC Wales about some of the Welsh who decided to play League back in the amateur days of Union, some of the stories from the players are interesting. It's here if anyone fancies a watch. Sadly, it's not about a hooker or flanker solving the enigma code.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Some class players we will never see the likes of again. Damien Traille, Imanol Harinordoquy, Lionel Beaxis. Such a talented group.

Can't watch that video right now (at work), but is that the game where there was a potential try, and it all came down to the question asked?

If the ref asked "is it a try?" there was no clear view, no try, Ireland win the 6N. But IIRC he asked "any reason not to award it?", there was no clear view, try, France win.

Sickening. Back then I was starting to think I'd never see Ireland win another 6N (we were on a record smashing slam-less streak, and a record equalling championship-less streak). Now we have 3 in 5 years. #NotThatWeKeepCount

He asked the question because he was sure it was grounded. That's the normal criterion for asking that question. He asks "Try yes or no" if he has no clear view of a grounding and asks "Any reason..." if he's looking for a knock on or other illegal play that would render a grounding null and void.

It's hard to hear in that video, but I'm pretty sure he said it was grounded.

I can only presume that the French do this on purpose for the extra drama. Between this and 2015 it's the only viable explanation.
