To be fair to Beauxis, he got the ball directly from an England lineout throw. He had a bunch of befuddled English forwards in his face and literally just grabbed it and kicked it.

It's worth repeating that he got it directly from an English lineout throw. :D

Can't watch that video right now (at work), but is that the game where there was a potential try, and it all came down to the question asked?

If the ref asked "is it a try?" there was no clear view, no try, Ireland win the 6N. But IIRC he asked "any reason not to award it?", there was no clear view, try, France win.

Sickening. Back then I was starting to think I'd never see Ireland win another 6N (we were on a record smashing slam-less streak, and a record equalling championship-less streak). Now we have 3 in 5 years. #NotThatWeKeepCount

2009- We had the title wrapped up before we faced Wales and almost lost the GS

2014- France scored a try late in the game that was a forward pass and if they had scored that then England would of won the title

2015- well thats it own story and goes down in Infimany

we dont do things easy and cant see Saturday being any different. Hopefully im wrong and we hammer England

It seems mad that Ireland v England is the middle game and there is almost no time between this game and the next one. I presume TV cameras will flick away from the trophy presentation etc.

Surely from a TV rights POV and everything it makes sense to try and predict the game most likely to be the decider and put it last? (And surely that was this game)

It wasn't technically won - Wales could have pipped us though would have needed a 15/16 point win or so.

i think the 6N fixtures are drawn 2 years in advance ???

I wonder will they put Wales vs France on 3e and have the trophy presentation/interviews etc on after the Ireland game ???

They also could have won if they'd gotten a bonus point. It just would have been really really really really difficult for the to do that due to their non-invention.

I'd say they didn't want give Irish fans a full day of pre-gaming especially as its Paddys Day 😆

The Telegraph is reporting that Champions Cup matches will be shown live on free-to-air TV from next season. They say a deal is almost completed between Channel 4 and TV3 for both to broadcast at least 1 match during each of the pool stages.

does anyone have any pics of the area around the old Lansdowne road stadium compared to now ???

is the area totally unrecognizable today compared to 12-15 years ago ??

V interesting...never envisaged Channel 4 getting involved in rugby. Not terrible news!

Agreed....as long as it's not comparable to sky's red button coverage of CL games...very few Irish people want to watch Spartak Moscow v Club Brugge....same would go for Bath v Treviso....
Unless the terrestrial channel's get games that are appealing to their home audience it's going to make for poor viewing figures.

Not really. 12-15 years ago was peak Celtic Tiger. Many of the buildings that are there today were already built. Google and the Gasworks development etc. was already completed around then, for example. The Oval on Shelbourne Road followed in 2006.

The bulk of the buildings in the area though are much older and have been around since the 19th century so not a huge amount of change has ever occurred there. You'd need to move a little closer to the docks for an area that is completely unrecognisable from where it was 20 years ago.

Bath Avenue, Lansdowne Road, Havelock Square etc. are all near identical to what they have been for decades.

With that post I have forgiven you for saying that Smith and Barrett weren't the best halfback pairing in the world.

Potentially an upset happening in Belgium. Belgium are 15-0 up against Spain and look like spoiling Spain's dream of qualifying for the World cup
