And two of the best English coaches work in Ireland.

    Farrell and Lancaster?

The spain v Romania fiasco seems to have fuel added to its fire by the emergence of video of the Romanian ref advising the Romanian u20s during a game recently, and berating the match officials.

Many Tuilagi is injured again. He hurt his right pectoral muscle during Leicester's win over Wasps.

    Fella has no luck whatsoever.

Yeah. You'd imagine either would find a head-coaching gig in the Premiership with little difficulty. But thankfully for us, they are happy enough here.

Mathew Tait still an absolute flyer. What a tackle against Wasps

Such a shame injuries stopped him ever reaching his potential on a consistent basis

    Weird signing for them.

They probably got him cheap. Rob Baxter has a tendency to get the most out of players. Alex Cuthbert refinding his 2013 form is something all clubs would like.

Your man is an actual referee. Thought he was someone who walked in off the street.

I fully get the frustrations of the Spanish players and fans, but that’s really not good.

Great, he should get there by 2020 all going well.

Does that graphic not just multiply the number of games in each league by 80?
Does it account for squad size?

Yeah, looks to me like it's entirely hypothetical.

it is what it is though.

average squad numbers in the pro14 are approx equal to, or slightly larger than, top 14.

i looked at 5 random teams in each league:
    leinster (45), edinburgh (45), cheetahs (53), treviso (49), scarlets (43)
    racing (42), lyon (44), toulon (40), la rochelle (41), Bordeaux (54)

    blues (40), highlanders (38), sunwolves (47), sharks (45), rebels (37)

so no matter what way its advanced, on average, players in the top 14 will play approx 24% more minutes than the pro 14.
they will play approx 35% more than super rugby players.

A lot of the Top 14 clubs will include their 'Espoirs' in matchday squads like we do with our academy players. So the numbers aren't as cut and dried as the figures for the senior teams would suggest.

Do you factor in ball in play time/number of collisions?
As a player you would want some metric like a*(cash)+b*(profile)/(amount you get smashed per pay period).
a and b would be a function of your age

The other thing is there are far more internationals in the Pro14 than the other leagues, as four countries are drawing players from the league rather than one each in the case of England and France. Makes sense to me that this would necessitate larger squads to deal with players missing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

I've come to the conclusion that it's a completely pointless graphic. :)

They might as well have created one with the number of potential matches in each league.

Was that around the same time that Jones got a shiner? (Not that the 2 incidents are necessarily related)
Did we ever hear who gave it to him or why?

    'Stannard skull fractured in attack'

    http://www.skysports.com/share/11309155

Aussie Rugby 7's captain gets a fractured skull after being punched by an English lad and hitting his head off the pavement........
    absolutely scummy behaviour.

Saw a picture of Doddie Weir recently, looks like he might have lost a bit of hand mobility already, that MND terrifies me.

Crikey, when you consider what the likes of Smith and co have gotten up to on Tours!

Saying that though there's some amount of hot air in that article, his "48 inch" chest was so big extra panels were sewn in. He's an XXL, probably 18inch neck shirt. Lets relax a little!

There weren't any XXL's back in those days. :D

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that Cian Healy had dropped a fair bit of weight and was down to 110Kg.

Yeah, the forwards haven't really got bigger, apart from freakish specimens like Atonio and Skelton, but a lot of backs are every bit as heavy these days.

Edit: What's the heaviest and lightest international XV you could pick today?
