ESTA and middle names...

    Hi

I applied for ESTAs for my sister and I and applied using only our first names as it said "don't enter middle names" - but the flights are booked using both names, and both names are on the passports - e.g. flight and passport says "Anne Elizabeth Jones" but the ESTA only says "Anne Jones".

Is this going to be a problem? Do I need to re-apply for the ESTAs?

    TIA!

    middle names don't matter

+1 applies to ESTA and flight bookings.

Do yourself a favour next time you renew the passports and leave out the middle name - you do not have to use all of the names that are on your birth cert.

On my previous passport I had only one first name but on the most recent renewal I mistook the description of one of the fields on the passport form and entered both of my forenames whereupon a guy from the passport office rang me, asked me if I really wanted both names on the new passport and advised me to leave out the middle name. Naturally I took his advice.

It can be an issue when renting cars in some countries if there is the slightest discrepancy in your name as it appears on your passport and driving licence so there can be a reason to have both names on the passport (i.e. if they're already on your driving licence) but in general it's better to go with just one first name.
