    Hi all,

I'm looking to put my dog into doggy day care for, initially, 1 day per week to see how he gets on. I've tried a couple but they were full and also some have issues with the dog not being neutered yet.

Does anyone have any recommendations on any places? We're looking somewhere in the area between Artane and Swords and anywhere in between and maybe slightly outside.

Any recommendations would be really well received and appreciated.

    Thanks,

Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations for you but just to let you know, I think you will struggle to find a day care that will take an unneutered dog.

    Thanks Ashbx,

I'm aware it might be tough. Our vet has recommended he stay un-neutered until at least 18 months to help mitigate any possible hip problems in later life, so his bones and muscles can develop more. So I know it'd inconvenient at the moment for that but I'm hoping that because he's very well socialised, well behaved (as much as a dog can be) and its a medical thing, that it might not be as much of an issue.

Have you checked out The Dog Den in Raheny? Ciara d'Arcy runs it, and I see they can make exceptions to the neutering rule.

    Thanks DBB,

I've tried the Dog Den, but unfortunately they are extremely full at the moment. I believe I'm on their waiting list but by the sounds of it it could be a while before I hear anything. Would you have any other suggestions?

Is it a daycare environment you want OP or socialisation/tiring him out?

    Thanks for the reply tk123,

I suppose it's a bit of both. I want him to have the company but mainly to be interacting with dogs and tiring him out wouldn't hurt at all!

    Does that make sense?

    Yep perfect sense! :)

Both of mine went to daycare and I don't know if I'd do it again for different reasons.

Bailey has issues and can't be left alone so in that kind of situation where I didn't have a choice I'd use one.
Otherwise I'd opt for a dog walker who does group walks so they still have their socialisation and exercise but they're not over stimulated going mad all day and don't know how to relax. Also daycare = STINKY dogs lol!
