    Recently approved for HAP. First payment due to LL end of the month.

    Currently renting in a RPZ, LL want's to increase the rent to at least 1,600. Currently RPZ says can only increase by 35.00e bringing total rent to 1,435.00 a month.

    HAP will pay 1,300, our current rent is 1,400. We pay 400 at the moment 400 towards the rent, rent allowance pays 1,000.

    When the HAP kicks in;

    We will pay 360.00 (HAP contribution) + 400 Usual rent = 760.00 total every month.

    Can the landlord increase legally to 1,600? What is the best way to approach it? LL probably thinks we receive 1,300 and only have to pay 100 on top which is not the case.

    Appeal the rent increase to the RTB.
