Morning Four! Before we move on from D&D, is it possible to know everyone's finishing levels?
I'm not suggesting for one second that I'm continuing to run Othegre and Kyokuma on my own to see what DMing entails, just need closure so I can move on.

    Kyokuma was Level 9.

Othegre was Cleric Level 17, Vivimancer 14.

Just about character knowledge. The "Tombstone Epithet" section starting on p.1 contains what the typical person knows.

The "What you know" subsection on p.75 reflects additional knowledge the "weird background" people have.

Should give you an idea of who not to piss off and how your character might react to going to various places.

Just to get this straight, as characters, we should read the epithet on page 4.
there is a lot of pages between that and making a character, pg 23. we just skip over that stuff, right.

All of it is handy, but p.5 - p.11 (up to disputed territories) are the basics.

    p.52-53 for non-weapon items.

    p.56-57 for weapons.

Unlike D&D where eventually you have ridiculous money and it's more for XP than buying stuff, money in deadlands is something you've to watch.

This is Act III Scene III

I forgot to put the D&D in the title! I'll ask sullivlo about that.

    Okay plans ahoy!!!!

So for slow paced games, the following Powered by the Apocalypse games will be on offer (I've pmed a few about this):
Powered by the Apocalypse: the original, postapocalyptic
Alas for the Awful Sea: Life on a rough island in the 19th century where somebody is murdered. It's a period drama basically
The Veil: Set in a future where humanity is fusing with machines.
Dungeon World: D&D redone in Apocalypse world style.
The Sprawl: Bladerunner themed heist game.
The Ward: You play a doctor in an ER. This game won awards.
Urban Shadows: You play supernatural creatures living in the modern world trying to survive by pretending to be CEOs etc. Very good.
    Masks: You play young superheroes

Apocalypse world games basically work by you rolling 2d6 adding some stat (like investigation), <7 is a failure, 7-10 a success with complications and >10 a good success.

You decide the type of success and the complications from a list of options and I have to come up with something fitting the current story and those options. This way the players have control over the story to a bigger degree.

The options depend on your class and the skill.

For a slower paced game I'd be interested in any of the above though probably more in the original Apocalypse or in Dungeon World.
Mind you the Traveller also appeals and it might be interesting if both the slower and faster paced games were in the same universe. Cameo appearances from characters.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Also my first foray into the RP world was Vampire, myself and Mr Molly joined a group half way through a game and I was so confused and overwhelmed and terrified. :D
Running Vampire now, but it's beyond fast paced at a rate I'll call Necro-paced. :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Okay so open to two slow paced games. Short list:

    The Ward
    Apocalypse World
    Dungeon World
    Traveller
    Masks

Well special session really, I had to be up anyway, so we got plenty covered.

Maybe I missed it but did we find out what Goodie's vision was in the D&D game?

Also, why did you keep asking me about Othegre's hair?

Yes, I am stalling because I'm sick of reading the history of Haiti in the 19th century. Don't get me wrong, it's very interesting and it's tragic when you look at how their treatment then created the country as it is now, but trying to get your head around the colour-based caste system at 2 in the morning is a head wrecker... Maybe I should just be a cowboy? Cowbot! Can I be a cowbot?

Just one other reason why a subforum for the games (as we have already said) is needed. That's huge traffic and big posting numbers. Main Forum is gonna get lost with all the upcoming games.

DeadLands. Vampire. Call of Cthulu. One or more slow games. Tags won't work simple as that.

Actually, back to D&D. Just re reading the threads.

What was the painting of Moy, Ekbard and Bandylegs in the shack atop Mount Sanderjarn meant to signify?

I'd also like to know if Bandylegs learned ALL of the secret Goodie knew.

I know The Judge and The Twins were two mentioned on the doors. We met The Butcher. There was also talk of The Splitter... was that the vampire we met below?

WAS THE JUDGE ABLE TO HURT BANDY

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 51,534 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

The first time, no, Tigger knows why. The second time, yes. I had to save from Death just like the Goodie and Ekbard. And the clerics damaged me with spells.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,705 ✭✭✭✭Tigger

The secret was that we were on
Mission to get blood to summon soet I stopped that by double killing Molly
    And bandy was protected spefically.
Oh and BandyLegs cannot be harmed directly by Soet and his servants.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

....and then we summoned Soet ourselves anyway...

    Go team!

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Going to hold off until 20.30 for Tiggers sake, so that he isn't joining three or four hours in.

That suits me too tbh. Can get kiddies to bed, get some treats in :D

(Oh and maybe get herself a good movie to watch seeing as it's Valentines :) )

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

I'll be putting my kids to bed between then and 9, but I should be able to shove a quick post or two in. Just assume I'm swaying around in the background shaking a rattle at things.
