Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For a fella who was an unemployed plumber a few years back, you have to hand it to him.

There's a quiet little thread on in AH about it.

Is it as cheery as this one :D

He's definitely got personas going on there. He's stuttering and stammering and so different to the way he is when he's promoting himself before fights.

Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of lads his age and they're too lazy to scratch themselves

What’s going on with the stammering etc? Has that always being the case, is he just nervous or is it a part of a brain acquired injury from fighting ? Serious question as I’ve never heard him interviewed before.

Whats with his stutter? Dont remember him having this before at interviews

You really do, Especially when you look at the earnings of other fighters, it's really not a great earner unless you're at the top. Some on the same bill as conor can earn up to 5k!

The mythology of Conor's roots is great fun.

I read the other day he grew up in Tallaght, one of the few Gaelige speaking areas of Dublin.

Which contradicts what I had read before, which is that he escaped the daily gunfights of the badlands of Crumlin.

Which is a lot of excitement for a fella who grew up in a semi-D in Lucan.

Do apprentice plumbers look at the Conor McGregor coverage and think "Man, is what I'm doing so bad? It seems to be the career path of a loser unless I start punching people."

Sounds like he is very conscious of the words he is using. Trying to choose each word carefully but not leaving a gap. Doesnt want to run his mouth. Plus he has to do the mae culpa over the homophobic stuff later on

Ha, that reminds me of when the Italian Media stated that new Inter Milan startlet Robbie Keane had earned a crust as a Shepard in the rolling hills of Tallaght.

Meh, I think he is pretty grounded. Very easy to get carried away with money and oppportunities and 75% of his behaviour in interviews, especially when on pre fight media circuit is a character.

Imagine Stephen Cluxton trying to sell a GAA match to the media.

The game he is in requires him to have such a media presence.

He is with the same woman since he was a teen and a dedicated family man.

As I said, think he seems grounded, especially as such an affluent and "superstar" status at such a young age.

And this is from someone who doesn't have much interest in the "sport" he is in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,807 ✭✭✭take everything

Deep down he's a decent guy. I don't know why people can't see that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭aine92

I think he's great. He has guts, he sets mad goals for himself and he comes through. Irish boy done good, I think he's a hasher and a hard worker and he deserves the success.

Who says you have to be humble, where in life does that get you. Everyone for themselves, fair play to him I say!

Don't think it is. I think he's very, very clever, wants to make a bastard load of cash and enjoy his life.

Very well done, you mad b*stard.

Pretty vomit inducing hearing how he considers his son his "lineage and legacy".
Can't have that with a girl, no?
As a man with two daughters, I find that attitude pretty depressing. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,134 ✭✭✭mollser

I think the problem is all the union workers think they work as hard as Conor by getting up early to drive the train, so they should be earning a much as him. Maybe!
