A re-evaluation of the the Mount Street Bridge engagement Contested Memories: Revisiting the Battle of Mount Street Bridge, 1916 Even though the figures are revised down, it doesn't takeaway from the success of the Volunteers in question in significantly delaying a vastly superior force.
