It's coming in on the 14th of November. It doesn't have a name associated like Clontarf so I'm wondering who's behind it.

Its 50€ so I wonder would I be better off getting something a bit more well known.

Here is the page in the Aldi booklet:

    26 yr old for 50quid.. that's worth a punt.

I'll definitely pick up a bottle.

If it's good, I'll get another.

    Most likely Cooley or Bushmills.
Don't think Irish distillers did much malt back then. Couldn't be anyone else. My money would be on Cooley.

Think I'll give this a punt.

There is going to be a big Q outside ALDI that day. It opens early but wont sell booze until 10.30 so people will grab and have to wait to buy til 10.30. That is if U are lucky enough to get your mitts on one of the likely 3/6/12 or X number (small ) per store. I reckon Bushmills.

    50 quid for a 26 year old?
Is this due to selling below cost or because its likely to be piss?

    This is what's puzzling me.

Could be a genuine bargain or a bad batch that they're trying to flog...

Dunno am I willing to gamble 50€ on it when I could just get a bottle of Green Spot.

Would they be part of what Teeling kept over from when he sold Cooley. Possibly was short on storage and needed to sell up?

Early Cooley wasn't the best at the time, so if it is Cooley it may just be quite poor

Very interested to see where this is from.. Bushmills was part of Irish Distillers back until about 2005. Diageo then bought it but sold it to Jose Cuervo a couple of years ago. Could they (Diageo) have sold off the older aged spirit before the sale to try to hobble Bushmills older/more premium drink stock and this is where that has come from?

May be worth it for €50!

So tomorrow is the day, who's going to take a gamble?

The more I think about it the more I think I'm going to give it a skip.

I'll definitely give it a go!!
Its only fifty quid, not gonna break the bank like!
The way i look at it is,if i get it and drink it, in a months time i can look back and think "yeah that was nice/bad/worth it"
But if i dont get it, in a months time im hardly gonna think "man, that fifty quid i saved was magic...."

I think that's the right attitude, I'll be doing the same thing..feck sake it's the same price as a bottle of black barrel or talisker... you can't really go too far wrong for 50

They’re still in the queue at the checkouts :p

I’d be more interested if anyone has sampled it while in the queue to let us know how good it is.

A few people on Twitter saying that they have to ask for it.

No hoards descended on my local Aldi. The girl had them behind the till.

Not much in the way of clues on the bottle. It has an Ib logo on the bottom. InBev don’t own any Irish distillers do they?

Edit: just noticed that it’s bottled in Scotland

Ah, here. It's not even lunchtime!

Picked up a 'few' bottles in finglas Aldi. I had to ask them to get it out from the back but I wasn't the only one looking for it.

BTW, this is almost certainly a bushmills malt, but double distilled and sourced from Teeling. The Teelings picked up a load of double distilled bushmills stock from Diageo before the distillery was sold. They probably got a good deal on it as it doesn't fit in with the bushmills line of triple distillation.

None in ALDI Eastwall - no sign of the shipment, they had none of the drinks in store that were due to arrive today.

Going to try and call into Drogheda or Dundalk on the way to Dublin now. Someone hurry up and take a swig! :p

I vaguely remember in the past, of instances where one off bargain items never arrived on time to certain aldi stores.
And if memory serves me right, those items never ever came in.

I suspect that they had a very very limited amount of stock., not enough to go to every store.

So, to those lucky enough to grab a bottle today, Enjoy.

Us other poor smuchs will never know.
