Nice one I'll go have a look tonight after work. A friend went into the one in Terenure on Tuesday and asked but they hadn't got them in so we assumed they wouldn't be getting any at all.

Checked an Aldi at lunch, they never got it in yet but to keep checking back as it is due in. They said it will be available up until Christmas, not just a "special" this week as a one off.

I think this is double distilled, unpeated Bushmills being sold below cost price.

It is a lovely, fruity whiskey. Can't detect any peat. A massive bargain.

Isn't all Bushmills triple distilled? Does the 26 year old 'taste' triple distilled? I'm not really a fan of that style of whiskey - I much prefer the double distilled method. I'll buy a bottle if I can get hold of one though.

Everything bottled by Bushmills is triple distilled (except the blends, of course), but I believe they made some double distilled stuff under contract for a Japanese company. What was left over was sold to John Teeling.

I can't say if this tasted double or triple distilled. I suppose I can't detect any of the varnish element you can get with triple distillation, but that might disappear after 26 years in the cask. You can also make very light double distilled whisky and heavier triple distilled whisky.

This one is very fruity, but more tropical fruits you'd associate with the Teelings Bushmills. The Cooley, I think, would have a bit more pear drops. That is what I get from Tyrconnell. But who knows. Could be completely wrong. It reminds me of rum cask Bushmills.

I asked in the Aldi in Glanmire in Cork and they said they were supposed to get it but it never arrived.

The guy I spoke to said the last time they had something like this someone came and bought the lot.
