He couldn't leave trump out of something that has nothing to do with politics.

I do like this tune, D´Arcy played it a lot in his Today FM days.

The guy on Mundy's right is Jack Meagher, a fantastic guitarist.

Bejaysus my late mother used to adore a giggle when Dessie O’Hallorsn would be played on the radio, she used to say she could do a singalong with her wobbly voice and make a few bob. I used to love to hear my frail old Mum roar laughing at the voice!

Too many great musicians squeezed into that stupid set (that probably cost thousands)

I've seen this done live loads of times with Dessie O Holloran. Always love it.

I wonder has Sharon ever looked bored out of her tree and just going through the motions while playing.

I f*cking hate Galway Girl

She’s probably got the smile surgically fixed onto her face long ago for commercial purposes.

I saw Steve Earle and Sharon performing it at a show in Galway some years ago.It was brilliant.Pity RTE couldn't stretch to getting Steve over to Ireland for tonight's show.

I know Sharon a long time. She's one of the most genuine people I ever met. That smile is 100% real.

I jest, it’s only in the humorous spirit of the boardsies. I suspected for years she’s utterly genuine, only wish I could smile more like that🙃

I remember being at a gig in Castlebar a few years ago. They were doing "Courting in the kitchen" when Shane Macgowan walked over to Damien Dempsey and punched him in the balls.

The Galway Girl was written by Steve Earle when he lived in Galway and is a track on his album Transcendental Blues which was released in 2000.It is also on Sharon Shannon's album The Diamond Mountain Sessions which was released in 2001.

She seems very down to earth, how long has she been on the scene?

A woman's heart was around 1990. She was playing with Frances Black, and the waterboys around that time too. She'd have been on the fleadh scene well before that.

No better buchaill than myself to rip the pi$$ when it suits me.

A story that happened last week.
Sharon was playing at our local theatre as part of a festival. I wasn't able to go due to other commitments. A woman I know approached me earlier in the week and asked me could I arrange a meet and greet for her son after the gig. Her son is 13, plays the accordion very well, and is a huge fan of Sharon's. I contacted Sharon and she asked could they come in at five o clock as she had to go somewhere else after the show. We had tea, took a few photos and they played two tunes together. That made his day and the show made his night.

Saw Steve play it a few years back on his 'Townes' tour and he thanked Mundy and Sharon for making the song big but said in all his years of boozing he "never touched a drop of ****ing cider"
