Another recommendation for cheaper Irish made candles...fantastic smells and you can keep the jar. They are usually at the RDS home fair around Nov/Dec and do deals at that. I'll buy Irish, just not if I'm getting ripped off...are Pippa's even made in Ireland?! (The Skin Nerd made particular reference to supporting Irish in her comment on instagram)

    Not #ad or #spon haha

I don't think they're even made in Ireland! She made a looot of business trips abroad this year where she was meeting people about the products. I'd be very surprised if they were made here. Support Irish? You mean support Irish blogger not Irish produce. Why don't they support their loyal followers by not charging half a tonne for cangle

So the site has gone live, and the candles are priced at 42 https://pippacollection.com/collections/candle/products/pink-peppercorn-ruby-candle

The products look stunning but I wouldn't go near them for the price. Really unfortunate, but the max I'd spend on a candle is 30 for a Max Benjamin one!

Yankee candle a worldwide brand is not even that dear why are her products so expensive even her jeans are dearer than river island

I HATE the way she talks with her mouth to one side. Just like Doireann Garrihy's impression of her.
Why did she think people would spend fifty quid on her candle when we can buy Jo Malone? Pippa is getting ideas above her station.

Waxperts Ellen is so cringe. She makes out shes besties with Pippa, but "forgot" to congratulate her last night. She is morphing into Doireen, she has taken on all her facial impressions etc, its so creepy.

I've had a couple of Jo Malone Candles.......I had a mint and something else one that was just lovely....the Aldi Candle one I got was a dupe of lime basil and mandarin and I have to say, it was every bit as good.

    People will totally buy them.
When she was on snapchat today the tickets for the Galway fashion shows sold out straight away, and many were disappointed.
When SoSueMe did a Galway one earlier this year she was pushing a good bit as the sales were low. Even though hers is cheaper and similar mediocre goody bags.
People love Pippa and lap up what she’s selling. Her audience is more yummy mummy than teen so they’ll buy it.

I’m not a fan of all her branding on the planners. She said when the POCOs came out that it was minimalist because that’s nicer, which is true.
She’s all over the planner though.

I got blocked on Instagram by the Pippa Collection page for saying I think the pricing is way off and she should reduce it to around €30.
I will never get over this, gals.
Also I thought Pippa was in her forties!!

In fairness can ya blame Pippa in a way. People literally firing €100 at her to sit bored out of their skull at the fashion factories. She must think people are daft and will give her money for any old sh!t. It still doesn't make it right though.

It’s a bit...silly, tho I want to say pathetic but that might be a bit strong (and makes her look a bit silly) for Sinead to go deleting her post on the collection. So much for not being afraid to say what she thinks. People weren’t even being nasty, they were mostly saying the items were overpriced. Not so different after all.

Will be interested to get a chance to smell these candles!

Anyone notice the sly digs from Sue Jordan and Lorraine Haigney on the girls who snap page under the pippa thread? hmmmmm

Without a doubt they will appear to ‘sell out’, whether they actually do or not we’ll never know. Pippa/her team will create the illusion that these are flying out and limited numbers left while the wait on a shipment to put more hype around the products.

Same concept of her pop up shops, limited time to create demand.

I commend her business acumen but the pricepont has pushed her from business savvy to just plain greed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 370 ✭✭heyjude88

Just went on to see were any sold out yet, not yet. And to add insult to injury, 4 Euro for shipping. So 49 for the planner.

    OUCH!

She’s not even a decent blogger - she gets her sister to do a travel post, her son to do a movies post then she just takes memes/giphys off the internet for a third. And that’s her ‘content’ for the week.

Has Pippa said where the candles are made? Though even if they were hand made on a Donegal mountain, using Irish bees' wax, scented with Kerry Heather, poured into jars made from waterford crystal glass and hand delivered by Michael D Higgins riding a Connemara pony I still wouldn't buy them, but the cost might be some way justified.

I was only half joking ☺
I have no problem paying for something that's really good quality or value for money or that was made by a skilled artist/carpenter /jeweller etc.
Also, if there are two products that are similar but one is made in ireland and the other somewhere else, then I'll go for the irish one.
My point is....where's the price coming from? What's the justification?
Does she mention the burn time anywhere? Or where they are made?
Brooke and shoals and Max Benjamin are both Irish made ( I think?) and cheaper.

In stitches at Laura’s Views snaps tonight. She showed her fancy planner that she spent 30 Euro on last year..... and hardly used it. Then she showed one she got for 1.50 in deals for next year ! There’s no way she randomly snapped about her planners today......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,089 ✭✭✭✭LizT

Don't know if I like how Pippa dealt with the release - she's on snapchat today thanking everyone for the nice messages and not mentioning the price? Like even if she said something like "a couple of people mentioned the price but the candles are made from xyz so that's why the price is higher". Suppose she doesn't want to acknowledge that people were anything but positive.

Also did anyone notice her getting slightly passive aggressive about the fashion factories? Basically giving out to people who said they couldn't get tickets for daring to tweet her about it!

I'd actually save up and buy all of them if Michael D delivered them on a Connemara pony in the hopes that he's bring Brod and Sioda too

She showed the planners in detail on her snapchat, and to be fair the planners do look lovely, I’ll check them out in the pop up shop on Thursday and see if they are worth the price.

There may also be a discount on them as it’s shop and rock night in dundrum.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,980 ✭✭✭wyrn

Unless the planners had the winning lotto numbers, there's no way they're worth over €40!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭idunno78

She should have referred to the price on her snaps although she might when they are actually released, the candles as it was mainly them I think people commented on?
Agree diary looks fab I love the one that looks like scribble on the front! To dear for me tho! And I bought one lSt year and used it for about 2 weeks biggest waste of money (personally)! I wonder will the people wishing her well get one sent PR or will they all buy one? (Other snappers, bloggers, business women I mean)

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,642 ✭✭✭✭wolfmoon87

Under the pic of the diaries... "Designed with much love in Ireland". So I'm assuming they're not made in Ireland?

On the diary piece, I really don't like that style. I find them quite childish, like one you'd get when you were young.

Even those Bando diaries I don't get, they come with stickers! What adult uses stickers!

Now I do love a good diary / notebook for work that looks good but I want proper pages on it to write, not fill of pics or quotes

I honestly don't get how people are justifying the price of the diaries (those who are insisting they would use it), comparing them to Kate Spade...she's an international, established brand. Bit arrogant to think you can just jump in at those prices. Or comparing them to designer bags or even her jeans. Difference with them is you get unlimited uses out of them, the planners and candles have a finite amount of uses and her prices are above average for even the more high end market.
Anyone who shells out €42 on a candle they haven't even smelled or know what the burn time is, deserves to be parted from their money

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,980 ✭✭✭wyrn

This thread has influenced me. Had a dream last night about Micheal D and he danced. No sign of candles or planners anywhere. Guess Micheal on a connemara horse made more of an impression :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭Sunny Dayz

I seen Pippa showing the planner on snapchat last night. It does look really nice, high quality, substantial and she did a good job of explaining the different sections. It would look beautiful sitting on a desk but looks too bulk and heavy to carry in your handbag. But would I buy it: no. I know that I just won't use one no matter what the price is, I'm just not a planner diary type person. I get a free one every year in work and it just sits on the corner of my desk gathering dust as I don't feel I have a need for one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,217 ✭✭✭mel123

Genuine question here: If you bought the planner, what would you use it for? I am assuming you might be self employed and use it for work?
Other than that, i cant think of a target market, genuinely like?
Im employed - as opposed to self employed - so my dairy comes courtesy of my company so there is no way id fork out for one, and even at that im a b for not using it and writing everything on scraps of paper.
As someone else said, a no frills diary will cost you 1.50 in Dealz, its hard to justify no matter what IMO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,767 ✭✭✭GingerLily

I got married this year and I'm buying a house at the moment. I have a long to do list every day that I need to get done, a planner would definitely be a good idea for myself! (I usually lose my notebooks).

When I've been doing courses or looking for a new job in the past I always needed a notebook too.

I would definitely have an issue with the size of that planner though. Too heavy to carry around all the time, my handbag would weigh a tonne.
