Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home from the European tour for going "off script" on their promo.

    Story on Sports illustrated here

Unbelievable really as you want guys to take risks

Sorry I didn't realise this was posted already

Eh, dunno. I think it'll end up being kayfabe.

A reason for them to say they're being unfairly treated so they cost Smackdown the SS match.

What did they say that was so bad?

Splitting this off onto its thread.

    From Pro Wrestling Sheet.

    Article:
Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn went against a creative directive given to them on SmackDown Live last night and we’re told it contributed to them being sent home.

Multiple sources tell us Sami and Kevin were supposed to “feed” for New Day following Zayn vs. Kofi Kingston yesterday, but for some reason they didn’t follow directions and left the ring.

The PWTorch glossary of insider wrestling terms defines “feeding” as: “The heel’s role during a babyface comeback where he runs at the babyface only to be repeatedly fended off, with the hope that the series of bumps by the heel will generate positive fan heat for the babyface.”

Owens hit the ring as soon as the match ended and attacked Kofi as planned. However, he and Sami quickly bailed from the ring. New Day then stood waiting, same for the sound crew who didn’t play anyone’s music, and the segment ended awkwardly when the two wrestlers seemingly went off script by not taking their planned beating afterward.

Since publishing the story on Owens/Zayn being sent home, multiple sources reached out saying the duo have been slightly difficult to work with lately and seem unhappy backstage.

It’s worth noting that they were both close with recently fired writer Jimmy Jacobs and Neville (who hasn’t been heard from since walking out).

They don't strike me as troublemakers but who knows.

If I was them I would be unhappy cause this storyline that had a ton of momentum after the HIAC ppv has been put on the back burner for the #UnderSiege stuff.
I think this is probably just writing them off TV for storyline reasons.

At least we got to see them in Dublin last Thursday

It would be a massive shame if both guys had a huge falling out and left WWE

What's Owen Kevin's and Zayn Samueal doing in the impact zone

Never mind, they're just a couple of the paid "fans"

Surprised to hear this, but as has been said the HiaC story being put on the backburner is a problem. And that's the problem with having a PPV where none (except the rumoured New Day match) of the matches are from an ongoing feud.
If the reason is true, you have to wonder why they did it.

Edit: Just rewatched and didn't see anything questionable. Owens was chased from the ring. Big E pushed Zayn out. Why would they go back in? Going in against the numbers would be a very face move

    A weird one for sure.

On one hand it seems much too in line with the current storyline to be real.

On the other hand you really wouldn't expect WWE booking to even try to be that clever.

Would WWE advertise a guy on their house shows (as they have with KO on all the European shows, in fact, he is still advertised for Nottingham, Milan and Padova, this week), only to write him off for storyline reasons?

    Hopefully they don't come back.
Two average performers pushed beyond their station. Especially Zayn.
It's guys like them that make casual fans laugh and ask "how are these guys wrestlers?"

God knows what way Vince viewed it. One of them prob tried hugging Vince backstage and that was it.

So Sami finally gets a chance and then messes it up could be the last we hear from him.

Hope Owens is not going to regret this as he's very highly thought of in WWE

Hopefully they get a slap on the wrist or it's a work and they just needed to be home etc

Glad we got to the Smackdown shows at the start of the tour. New Day are currently working on Raw shows, and Owens/Zayn gone now too. The shows must be utterly barren, especially since Orton stayed at home too.

I always found it funny when Smackdown would win some of the "battle of the brands" stuff, like at Bragging Rights, only to immediately go back to being subordinate to Raw.

I am incredibly skeptical with regards to the validity of the source of these reports. Kinda fit the current angle a little too well and has the perfect amount of non definite reasons why it's believable (friends with Jimmy Jacobs & Neville etc being mentioned). Would the WWE normally drop two such guys from a tour for something as small as the smackdown thing being reported, that just highlights the fact (which would have been missed otherwise) to the hardcore audience while also meaning advertised wrestlers miss shows. There were never any non complimentary mentions of these guys (in fact it would usually be the opposite) before they went into an angle together as anti authority troublemaker types.

Funny how it happens the same week Sami mentions all the possible ways he could've been punished if he cheated to win his match against Orton.

Owens is highly thought of and pushed loads on screen recently, I'd say its a work.

Pat LaPrade, who's written books on Montreal pro wrestling & is very well connected with those around Zayn & Owens, is claiming that Zayn & Owens felt unclear about exactly what was to happen postmatch whereas the feeling amongst management (probably Vince) is that they just didn't want to feed the babyfaces.

Wade Keller over at the Torch says Owens in particular was absolutely distraught leaving the building

Was just listening to a Bruce Prichard podcast last night where he said Rock and HHH first start getting over because they went off script. He would secretly encourage them telling Rock that it's live tv and if you can take the ass chewing from Vince afterwards then do it.

Different times nowadays though it seems.

Both sent home and suspended by the WWE shockingly turn up at Survivor Series and cost Shane the win.

Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

    Unless you're asking Vince.

Exactly my thoughts too. They're both huge stars right now with a big push and with 'nothing to do' on one of the Big 4 PPVs since they lost their qualifiers. It was designed that way in writing I think and it and makes sense.... unless I'm giving WWE too much credit.
