"This god's blood, how much of it is there? will we need a carraige to bring it all back for you? what does it taste like?"

"Askit, I hate repeating myself but as this God's blood is important to you and your man soot, it is pertinent that you give me an answer to my query. It seems clear to me now that that creature must have knocked the question clear out of your head so with some reluctance, I'll repeat my query for you.

How many pints of this gods blood do you require? If there 100 barrels of it stacked on the 3rd floor of the tower, do you require only a small vial of it and we leave the rest behind, or do you require all of the gods blood we find?

I don't know much about gods, but I'd imagine if you drained a god of enough blood to kill it, then that blood would probably fill an ocean, but maybe this was some weak & puny god whom no one prayed to.

You say that if we bring you back the blood, then we can keep any other treasure we may find, but what if the blood is so heavy, in order to bring it back to you, we are not able to carry anything else. If we knew the load we were to carry out of that tower, we might be better prepared in what we bring in, extra men, horses, carriages."

OOC: I think this is a great time to introduce your thief special abilities.
Like anybody you can move quietly, and Whispy has a chance to hear you (I roll for him). However you uniquely can move silently as well. It's a percentile skill given on p.13, if successful there is no chance to hear you. Similarly you have a higher chance to hear noises behind doors higher than anybody else.

I, we, have many questions. What are you? And how do we get back to our own plane? Do you know of the Devil who sent us here and of it's plans? Is the hooded cleric Askit of your race perchance?
"I'm a being of shadow, my race originate from here, as your do from the material. Devils I know little of, older members of my race say they sometimes show up here and are to be avoided. People from your plane usually come here after death, often after violent deaths. It is rare for me to encounter a sane material like yourself. I think I know one who has a way out of here, our king. I can take you to his court if you wish?"

"Oh, ere you are" and he tosses Bandylegs the shirt.

Askit turns to Ekbard "The more you bring me, the more I'll pay, but the first vial-full will be worth the most. I cannot say how much there will be, but I would imagine enough for several vials, perhaps enough to fill a room.

I understand your apprehension about transport..."

He floats out of the room and returns with a purse of coin

"This is for your group, for the procurement of hirelings, retainers and beasts of burden."

    The purse contains 1000GP.

Bandylegs thinks about this for a few moments.

'Well, my ancestor reckons you're his bane, and told me your were dead. I think I'd like to see the look on his face when I come strollin in with his shirt, and you beside me. Why ever not?'

Bandylegs picks up the shirt and puts it into his backpack.

'Come on then, I feel my time here is short.'

Bandylegs leaves the shack and begins to head back towards the bridge.

    Dwarven Afterlife:

    The Ettin follows BandyLegs

"Zorumur's da name pleased to meet ya..." he marches ahead of BandyLegs across the bridge and waits for him on the other side.

Bandylegs carefully crosses the bridge, eyeing the rope and checking for loose boards, and follows the Ettin.

'Pleased to meet ya, Zorumur. I be Bandylegs McGillicuddy, son of Brandywine McGillicuddy, fervent worshipper of Vergedain. Are you hungry by the way lad? There's an assortment of food up yonder passage way if you need sustenance.'

    Dwarven Afterlife:

Zorumur, excited at finally eating for the first time in half a millenium marches up the central chamber and returns as BandyLegs crosses the bridge.

    Bandylegs eyes Zorumar cautiously.

'Bandylegs McGillicuddy. Does that mean something to you? It should given my ancestor sent me to get the shirt you gave me earlier. I'd be careful storming around like that lad. There's traps everywhere in this place.'

"One a' Muriggs McGillicuddy's lads. Course ya are. Fate and all that, come on lets leave this place"

He heads out of the dungeon back out Dumathoin's mouth and waits for Bandylegs to show him the way.

Bandylegs cautiously goes back down the passage towards the entrance, remembering to avoid the loose cobblestones on the way and joins the Chittin at the entrance to the caverns.

'Alright, lad. Now, don't be causing no scene when we get there!'

Bandylegs leads him back to the dwarven hall.

    Dwarven Afterlife
Muriggs, Hurrak and the other dwarves turn in shock and then excitement as BandyLegs and Zorumar enter the hall.

"Ah! Young lad" cheers Muriggs "Ye've returned with me shirt and my advesary, it's been boring these 500 years, how about it Zorumar, would ye be up for a round of head choppin' We're healed each morning."

    "Curs I wud" says Zorumar.

Bandylegs suddenly hears a dim echo, Askit's voice he thinks and feels a terrible pain in his back.

As the rest of the Dwarves begin pushing back tables to make space for a battle, only Hurrak notices BandyLegs fading.

"You've done good lad, now get back and show you're not just worthy of Vergadain, but worthy of the name McGillicuddy"

His eyes open staring at the study's ruined ceiling.

A very large Topaz crystal lies atop a cage containing a young man with brown hair. Other than this, the room is featureless.

'Hmmm, I wonder had Zorumar any ancestors. Who knows, I might meet them along the road. He wasn't a bad chap after all. Thank you Vergadain for giving me the strength.'

'1000GP? Let's get this show on the road, what say you Ekbar?'

OOC: Just so you know, you have two "trap rolls". The same 1 in 6 that everybody has and the special percentile one for treasures like this the Topaz crystal. Basically one is for the room, the special thief one is for treasure or magic traps.

Elin finds no traps in the room or around the crystal.

OOC: Finding no traps can either be due to failing the trap roll or due to there being no traps. I do the rolls so you don't know, unless I reveal it. Again you had two trap rolls, separately for the Topaz and the room.

"A bow you say Ilberic. I hear there is a very fine bow shop in Thimotae, and very reasonable prices too. We should be able to pick one up there. They have a free sighting service for all purchases."

"Bandylegs, I'm as eager to get this show on the road as you are, but should we not allow Arry another while to finish up his business with the barmaid? You have a promise to Elin to keep her safe and she is nowhere to be seen around here, maybe you should be askin' Askin' where she is."

    Bandylegs pulls Ekbard aside briefly.

'This coin could assist us in our Thurmonton adventure. However I feel following what has taken place tonight we should at least include the cleric in our adventuring party. If you are agreeable I would bring all of the others in on this. If you knew what I had seen and faced in my brief soiree in the afterlife then you would know exactly why I am speaking with caution.'

Bandylegs tells Ekbard of his adventures in the Dwarven afterlife.

Then noticing he has an audience, Bandylegs nods at Ekbard.

'Aye, demon rider. I made a promise to Elin and I intend to keep it.'

Bandylegs sits in the chair and pulls out a ration from his pack and begins to munch on it absentmindedly. He also fills his wineskin from the barrel.

"Ilberic, you were not here, I believe you had left the room at the time, but I never truely fall asleep, I sleep with one eye and one ear open at all times. I do believe that Xestes said that he valued our thief and that our magic users would just be a distraction, although he did say 'be gone', i think that he had a less than lethal plans for them. If instead of distintegrating them as you say, he instead just teleported them to the other side of sourcraut, then maybe if we give them time, they will return with only some minor scrapes and bruises.

If we were to lead a front scouting party and proceed onto thimotae without them, then we are leaving the weaker of our party to fend for themselves in the wilderness parts of our journey, and they may fall to some wild boar or an orcs or some smelly bridge trolls, which if within a bigger party which we would be if we postpone depature for just a little while, would just be a hapy meal.

This askin' chap knows some magic with his clever floating tricks and weak ass binding spell, he says he has access to talk to a god, although not as all powerful a god as he once believed, maybe himself or his god could perform some sort of novice detection spell on our missing companions and let us know for sure if they are alive.

I would much prefer to leave here in a large party than to split up into this smaller lead party, as you and the dwarf seem to fancy. I think Moy would be inclined to agree but i shall not speak for another."

Ekbard eats some more of the delicious meat slices from the plate on the samll desk and washes it down with wine from his waterskin. He then unpacks his bedroll and parks himself close to the barrel and falls asleep.

The cage has a lock that Elin believes she can pick. Banban himself seems to be alive but has small gaseous wisps coming off him continuously, similar to those that naturally come off Wispy.

"The old Tarhouser estate, I know that's where I am, well the Shadow version of it. Unfortunately this room was demolished to enlarge the kitchen when that Cleric took over, so I couldn't 'haunt' the place as it were.

Ekbard sits beside the dwarf, "Xanthea..." points to the back wall were Xanthea is sleeping standing up against.

    Ekbard in hushed voice says
"So, castius told us that thimotaen is 1 days trek away.
Then, it is another day until we reach a big forest, forests have plenty of food stuff in them, so we will be well fed within it. Forest is 4 days big.
Then we reach big mountain. mountain is 5 days long.
    Then we reach the wrecklands.
We have been told the tower is two days into the wastelands.

so, this tower is 13 days away and 13 days back, and its the 13 days back which is what i was mostly worried about when i was talking to askin'.
He wants this blood and as much of it as we can carry. Horses could speed us there much faster, and if not burdened by us on the way back could carry huge burdens. This money was given at the specific request about burdens and carrying restrictions.

Maybe if you were to talk to askin', and mention that with the GP he provided us with to fully equip ourselves for this most important and vital mission, you only had enough GP to buy yourself a cursed piece of armour. Demand enough money to properly equip our party with armour and weapons. If he mentions giving me a pouch of gold, say that that money has already been earmarked for the procurement of hirelings, retainers and beasts of burden, and that on such a perilous journey in the name of soet, shouldn't we be equipped with the best armour and not some cursed piece of junk"

Bandylegs looks at Moy in disgust.

    'Suit yerself.' *Downs Moy's cup*

'Aye, I truly died. I suppose as we'll be spendin' some time together I might as well tell ye. I went to the dwarven afterlife and met with me ancestors. Dunno why I came back but I must have some purpose. I know ye're following ye're own gods path but Vergedain has use for me it seems.'

He calls Moy over and speaks to him in light tones.

'I see ye can fight, gods aside - I could do with the help. I heard word of treasure in Thurmonton. If ye be interested I'd be willing to give you a share of the profits. Ekbard yonder and the thief lassie Elin know about this quest of mine as of yet. I will explain more when we get on the road.'

'I hear what ye're sayin, Ekbard. Not sure it'll work but I'll give it a go.'

Bandylegs stands now and regards Askit.

'Oy, cleric. You want us to go on this quest for god's blood, yet there's no money for us to kit ourselves out for an adventure such as this. It'll be a thimble full of blood ye'll be getting if there's a raft of treasure within. Take me for example, I had very little means to kit meself out so I bought this cursed armour. I don't think it'll serve me very well if I'm going into a holy shrine and not able to carry me share. If ye kit us out properly, we can bring back several wine barrels full of the stuff.. What say ye?'

The cleric ponders a ponderous notion, ponderously of course. With a wistful look in his eye, he unsheathes his purple wand and hairy bag of magic.

"The mere sight of you plebs has irked me from the moment I laid eyes on you, I must vanquish you forthwith".

With that, the cleric casts a nasty spell transporting the merry band of plebiscites elsewhere in the realm.

Alas, they have vanished with a sticky puddle of love soup on the floor the only evidence of their existence.

Bandylegs laughs at the fool who entered the room stark naked and with no character to speak of. The 'wand' he holds in his hand appears to be a purple dildo.

'Ye fool, ye should have put some clothes on. Although, judging from what's in ye're hand, maybe ye'd prefer to stay that way.'

Bandylegs draws his axe and cuts the naked troll into twenty pieces.

Ekbard yonder and the thief lassie Elin know about this quest of mine as of yet. I will explain more when we get on the road.'

"Aye, count me in. I don't know much about fighting, a few lessons wouldn't go astray. I've never been to Thurmonton, only heard of it.

I'd prefer not to hide this from the spellcasters, I won't tell them but I will not lie.

How was the afterlife? Did you meet Vergadain? I had no idea that spiny devil was so powerful, nor did Ekbard I imagine, he seems to have a few screws loose.

Tell me fellows, how long do we plan to await the return of the spellcasters? I say three mornings from tomorrows we leave without the mottlers."

Ekbard tuts, "I'm sitting right here!"

"I had a good idea how strong a devil lord could be, way more powerful than someone like I or a 100 of me, could ever handle, but i was told he was bound and could not escape. I had way too much faith in what this askin fellow has said. He had told us that the devil was bound by god magic. Why should I doubt that. Askin' himself is in shock that the devil escaped. You think that'd be the first thing you mention when bringing a fighter into a room with a devil, "oh, by the way, don't try to attack the beast or he will be freed from his bindings". If anyone has a screw loose its that askin' chap or his god or whomever forgot to forward on that really important sliver of information."
