    hi all

have a set of Zonda's with a Shimano 11s freehub(prob 12K on them), when pedaling its making a rough grindy noise. if i lift the bike and spin the wheel only(by hand) forwards its fine, but pedaling backwards also gives the grindy noise
    is the freehub going?
have changed the cassette and chain makes no difference

how much and how difficult to replace the FH

(or am i way off and is it the bott. bracket??)

    cheers

I've had several sets of Zondas and this is their weak point. Usually have to replace the hub between 10 and 15k. It's quite expensive too - my LBS usually charges €80-€90. It may not be worth it if there is heavy rim wear.

Link to the part that you need. It may be available cheaper elsewhere.
It's not a big to replace. No special tools are required. A couple of Allen keys and a spanner are all that required.

Sometimes it's one of the main bearings inside the freehub. I got lucky as it was the outer one, which was easily tapped out. Replacement from Dicksons in Finglas was only €2.50.
