Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That HIA for Du Toy came from the sideline medics - Lenihan complaining about time, but it was the first opportunity that there was a break in play.

Man of match is hard to pick. Conway for me

Some great performances out there but CJ for me, carrying more than the other three backrows combined and joint-top tackler, good turnover on the deck. Some engine.

This game just gets even better for us. 2 trys from 2 fantastic Irish players in the space of a few minutes.

SA though have really gone to the pits.

    Sexton MOTM......couldn't argue with that.

Boom what a team try with some great moves in it!

Exhibition stuff. SA have completely given up, but that was a great try. Again.

Stockdale rounds off his 1st Teir 1 game with a try. Amazing day & result for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Sweetnam made that try with his work on the ground. Very assured.

    And Joey can kick!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

    Right.......who doubted Carbery's kicking??????

Beautiful from Carbury to Sweetnam, who did fantastically well to hold that up - fantastic try!

All well and good hammering SA but we need to be able to do it against the big sides.

Sweetnam did very well there, kept his head and kept the ball alive

Brilliant work from the young lads for that last try. What's happened to SA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Super performance really. Totally in control of the game.

Really happy to see Stander back on form. Hadn't quite hit the ground running this season up until today.

Have we ever had such a winning margin over S.A.?

So many nice moments during that game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Delighted to see SOB play the full 80, and seemed full of energy right up to the end. Stander had a better performance than I have seen from him for a while - great to see.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Stockdale, Conway were really good. Half backs are just as good as anyone else.

Forwards were just brilliant. Proper team performance everyone doing the job. Bench made serious impact.

Last try the icing. Sweetnam did really well. Two SA lads didnt want to know.

There is no post match interviews now on RTE2 as they are going to the football.

What is Sky Sports like? Have they finished for the night from the Aviva?

Not try conceded, only three points in total - Farrell will be delighted with that performance.

Ireland looking intelligent in defense - competing in the rucks when there is a high percentage of a turnover, and generally getting them. Nice to see some clinical play in the last 10 minutes in running up the score against a weary South African team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,998 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Great performance, great win. Really disappointed in SA, they were very poor.

Both wings were superb, all the backrows. Murray gave an exhibition in passing, Sexton ran the match, Aki was everywhere, all props dominated there opposite numbers.

    Good day at the office

SA were awful, but Ireland didn't get distracted. That was an excellent performance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,501 ✭✭✭swiwi_

That was pretty comprehensive. Ireland look well-coached. SA look like a rabble. I'll vomit if I see any more SA 9 => pass wide of the ruck with no guile or deception for crash-ball.

It would be nice for World Rugby to have 10 top sides who fight tooth and nail, but when SA (ranked ?5th before this game) look hopeless against a side ranked I think 4th, there are problems.

At some stage SA has to ask itself: dud coach and quotas in the name of righting the wrongs of apartheid...or maybe just select on merit and win some games. Probably need to give up on not picking too many-Europe based players either. Those SA wingers might struggle to start for any of the Irish provinces.

MOTM went to Sexton...but the Irish back 3 was pretty damn good I thought.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,416 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

That's got to be rough for some people to take.

Will have to watch it back when I get home but great winning margin especially considering the stats in the second half.

Absolutely buzzing after that. South Africa were muck but Ireland had a rake of young lads out and they completely eviscerated them. No mercy, not a bit intimidated by the their opponents.

Up there with the best Irish performances I’ve ever seen. Every single Irish player utterly outperformed their counterparts.

Conway scored 1 and was involved in 2 other tries. Really impressive stuff. Stockdale didnt look like a guy on his third cap.

Potentially South Africa could be a quarter final clash for us in 2019 - but you have to remember that there is a lot of South African talent playing outside of the country and if they are below 30 caps, they aren't eligible for selection. They also have the racial issue to deal with - SARU will have their funding cut if they do not manage to get within the racial quotas

Interesting reading the report coming from sport24, based in South Africa - Ireland out-think, out-smart bumbling Boks was the headline

That was magnificent. Couldn't be happier, we've just clinically put away one of the traditional SH big 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,320 ✭✭✭Teferi

South Africa are rubbish. Ireland were largely clinical, probably gave away a few too many penalties in the third quarter but the Boks too toothless to do anything with it.
