Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why not? How can I possibly review something I've never read? Blindly hating something makes far less sense.

I don't have as much of a problem with LON than most people on this thread. I thought her documentary on RTE a few years back was pretty good.

Well I like to think the crazies on this thread are normal 99% of the time and just go a little mad when they log in to boards. Actually buying her books suggests a level of commitment beyond that.

Reading a book you know you won’t like so you can join in the criticism of a pretty minor figure is, well........

Who says I won't like it? Its a best seller. I've been told its gripping and well written. Sure its been adapted to a play by some people I know personally. I think I should give a shot no? Have you read it yourself?

She probably insists on flaccid entry too, otherwise it would be rape.

I can imagine him happily obliging.

Well since you posted that “if I’m going to criticise someone’s world view...” I assumed you had an axe to grind.

Personally, if David Quinn of the Iona Institute wrote a novel, it wouldn’t be top of my reading list. Whenever I hear his opinions I disagree with him, so specifically searching out his novel would be a bit odd.

I mean her book is well reviewed but there are lots of books out there that are better reviewed.

Suggests that there’s a reason beyond it being well reviewed that’s driving you to read it.

Lol. What has that got to do with my post? I know the whole Trump-fake-news thing is mentioned a bit much these days but this thread really is like that. First some made up stuff about her not voting. Then when it’s pointed out, the response is some nonsense about Kay Burley....... it’s like lie, then when you’re caught lying, deflect.

Look, any chance to thrash Kay Burley should be taken.

No surprise she is going out with this clown. Anytime I noticed his tweets he was prattling on about rape culture and the dangers of pornography. He tweeted about Ched Evans 'victim' having to move home (which was fair enough at the time of course) but yet when Evans was acquitted not a peep from him.

Reporting only news that fits a certain narrative seems to becoming more and more common these days. There's a societal payoff for it of course. One only has to look at Blindboy to see what can be reaped in Ireland by those in the public eye if they regurgitate feminist rhetoric.

Hardest place for Louise to be a feminist is in a heterosexual relationship she tells us, so it was only a matter of time before she hooked up with a male feminist.

You do realise that his tweets aren’t news reporting right? It’s when he’s on the news he’s reporting the news.

Don't listen to him on Newstalk. Was his reporting on the Belfast Rape trial fair and balanced? Did he criticize the Irish journalist / author who, on the day of the verdict, proclaimed that she still believed the accuser nevertheless?

It’s a personal account. There is zero onus on him to be impartial in his personal tweets.

As far as I can recall it was a different journalist (frank greaney I think ) who did newstalks Belfast rape trial reporting.

Why would he criticise the Irish journalist?

Your post is just mindless outrage for no reason.

:D Wonder if you would say the same if he was a conservative? If he as tweeting to promote a No vote in the recent referendum, or was critical of one of the protected minorities?

    Would you ****.

Yeah there’s actually zero substance to the post. He says he has never heard the guy presenting. And then goes on to ask has he done this, has he done that etc.

It’s straight out of the school of “LOn hasn’t tweeted about this topic, therefore I know her opinion on said topic”. Makes zero sense.

Yes if a reporter posted conservative tweets I would not use this to suggest that the news is selective. An individual reporters tweeets are not a standard news source.
