Ah, but that only goes for those who have an ounse of sense.
Too many surround themselves with yes men/ yes women.

I knew one young (early 20s) feminist from Holland who went to 'anti-patriarchy' protests...

    That's like protesting leprechauns.

Also, LoN's comments on 'low paying jobs' like teaching were confusing. In what world are they 'low paying?' I've known many a teacher, they take many's a holiday, and go clothes shopping nearly every week. Often give away tons of clothes to charity. And there's no 'pay disparity' either-ask any woman teacher, they're paid the same as their male colleagues.

I mean, this is the 'woman' who said ' ‘The hardest place to maintain my feminism is in a relationship with a straight man’...

I'm not buying her book-if I need good manure, compost is cheaper.

It’s probably low paying to someone that gets paid to be a geebag.

I would bet the opposite actually. There hasnt been a woman born yet who wont swoon for a man, whatever his viewpoint, if he has some combination of being rich, good looking, power, and public acclaim.
A bit like young socialists becoming capitalists as they age and make a bit of money.

Indeed. I think Louise even said once that her brain is feminist but her vagina isn't.

I have never heard of Louise O’Neill and after reading her twitter feed I’m sorry I opened this thread.

Virtue signaller in the extreme. It’s embarrassing. When will she grow up?

I think she is where is now. She had a good few issues growing up and now she can't really take criticism or accept other people's opinions.
There is a group of people out there now and if you have a different belief/opinion or you say you dislike something. You are labelled as a bully and troll.

Indeed. It’s also quite dangerous that people like Louise O’Neill consider themselves an authority on anything.

Where does she get her following from?

I am not sure to be honest but I have read her saying she gave talks in schools so it's encouraged there as well and other authors say her book Asking for it is a must read. I saw the Elaine show one day and there was a few woman and they all said they were going to give their daughters the book to read.

That book is a dreadful read. Not the subject matter, which is obviously quite harrowing but the writing, the characters, the storytelling...it’s likr something written by a transition year student trying very hard to be edgy and write something controversial for the school magazine.

Any idea on what she gives talks about? I wouldn’t be happy for my kids to listen to her axe to grind at such a young age. I hope any audience she has with children isn’t anything similar to her Twitter feed.

I wasn't aware of her school talks until a few weeks ago. It might be on her books/articles/eating disorder/etc.
She said something along the lines of if she was speaking to a mixed class that the girls wouldn't ask questions in front of the boys but would come up to her at the end off class.

i definetly wouldnt ne happy for any school to let someone like her inside the gate let alone talk to the kids. having her give a talk is laughable.
surely there must be someone out there that isnt biased and full of such hate.

Saw somewhere she was asked why she hates men and should they start hating their male relatives

Feedback from the pupils would be interesting. Most are well clued in and not very gullible.

yes but it only take one pupil to listen or for them all to have an equally deranged teacher that will brainwash her hate into them

Can only speak for myself on this one but scum has never been a word that I felt was ascribed to one socio economic background.

To answer the question yes I would describe the people responsible for what happened in this country a decade ago as scum.

Just like I'd also describe lads from leafy D4 as scum for physically or sexually assaulting someone.

Anyone with a brain will know that the people involved in this do not represent the area as a whole, so when people call the perps scum that doesn't equate to an attack on where they're from. It's simply an attack on their actions and nothing more.

I reckon Hozier will have to fight it out with Bressie to be bono-lite

Ya I’d suppose if I had kids I’d want them to take lessons off someone with a negative outlook on a men and forcing identity politics on them ... and also who uses her parents as personal slaves

I'm sure she teaches young people to use their parents when she visits schools, and "forces" children to agree with her. There's some real paranoid guff on this thread.

Almost Love gets a good review in the IT to be fair.
Oh, wait. The review is by a woman! Typical. Typical. The female grip on filtering the reception, and biased evaluation of the literary efforts of women continues. When is this blatant imbalance going to end ?
As a society, are we not more enlightened than this ? I'm outraged. Flippin outraged.

I want my kids to meet as many people with different POV as possible. It's much better to challenge them than protect them.

I had an anthropology lecturer who was a complete bitch. She was also feminist, leftist (in the old commie way), perfectionist and her exams were amongst most demanding. Everyone hated her but there was always engagement, heated debate and argument and the room was packed. You don't need to agree with someone for them to challenge you to think about the subject.

The worst thing is never to challenge kids and their opinions. I have no idea what her talks are like or if she is any good but I pitty children whose parents try to shelter them from 'harmful' opinions. They will be the future snowflakes.

Anybody who I have seen challenge Louise in the past she basically labels a troll. She's very closed minded and can't accept other peoples opinion.
She could post a picture of a Ford Focus and say here's my lovely new Opel Astra. Somebody could reply that's a Ford Focus and she'd be like.
Guys I'm sick of the trolls.
