Basic Budget PC Build

Hi all,

Looking to build a PC for a relative for Christmas. Doesn't need to be amazing, all he does is youtube / 1080p video and email/web browsing. An SSD is a must, for startup. Other than that, nothing else, so need nothing fancy. Just components to do the job and cheaply.

1. What is your budget? €350 (€400 max)

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Internet/YouTube/Watching HD video.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Hard Drive (Need SSD to store OS on only, need fast startup). CD Drive.

5. Do you need a monitor? No

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? He better not!

8. How can you pay? PayPal, Credit Card, Bank Transfer etc..

9. When are you purchasing? Within the next month.

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? I'll be grand.

Would you not be better buying used on eBay and adding an ssd?

Yeah a secondhand office PC would be cheaper, just add in an ssd and additional ram if required. Just as an example

They come with a windows licence as well which is another saving. I think you would be hard pushed for a new build on €350.

Saying that, a ryzen build on another thread might get you close, but you will need some kind of GPU, just not one as expensive as below

Looks good to me, I was thinking of the pentium. Again he doesnt need a power horse, just something he can watch movies on, use work and that, use the internet and is fast enough for those tasks.

His current computer is as slow as a snail (was prebuilt in Harvey Norman some few years ago, need I say more? ).
