Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You’re not the brightest are you. We play caution we get 0-0.

We attack them and concede 3(so far)

    We attacked them??

NOTE TO MANY: This is your wake up call about how talented we actually are when it comes to "playing open football" against other sides. I'm sure most will learn absolutely nothing from this and expect us to tiki-taka our way through France, Spain or whomever we get in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, but what you are seeing is the painful truth.

Has Wes taken over the game by the scruff of the neck yet?

    Let's be honest.

The damage was done in the group when we threw points in to the Liffey. If we were going to qualify we could have won that group.

Coming to this stage to play a top seeded side over two legs was always asking a lot.

The only thing McClean is good for is leaving a bit on the opposition players with his late tackles now and again.

HA! Got to love Ronnie Whelan... "we need to get Long on and try more long balls".

This same gobsh*te will be moaning if we try just that.

Football isn't anywhere near the Gaa or rugby in this country in terms of participation funding or support. We have no business being at the level we're at in the sport, I think eventually we have to accept that in the modern Era of no Irish players at top clubs were just not going to be good enough. Getting to this point with the players available is in reality a miracle in itself. Denmark doesn't have three other field sports ahead of soccer, no country we play against does, we will never, bar a miracle be anywhere near the level we reached in the 90's again.

    Glazers Out!

    True enough
And it was management that lost it in Georgia .

Our World Cup adventure didn't end tonight. It ended with the poor performance against a welsh team down to 10, the terrible first half against Austria and then the mother of all ****e performance against Georgia.

We were in the driving seat in the group and simply didn't plough on. Automatic qualification was in our hands and we messed up.

You can't buy that quality in international football.

    You certainly can't, unfortunately.

MON will be the one sent to the gallows for this with the fans. That's grand, he's been terrible at times.

However, we're doomed for 'lather, rinse repeat' for decades to come if we don't address the problems in Irish football which go beyond the manager and current crop of players.

We can't buy that quality on the international scene, but we can definitely do a better job of nurturing it and developing it at home.

One CB left on the pitch now. Denmark will surely get another

    Baffling substitution!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Without too many quality players Denmark are dominating and look so assured when pressed. Looking at our side we lack any ability to move the ball around the pitch with any fluidly.
FAI need to start investing money into grassroots.

That, and you know, the whole being our top scorer and second highest scorer in our group thing. Yeah... that... that kinda helps a bit.

Rank bad management by O'Neill taking off two defensive midfielders.

Take one off sure. But both?

Cancel that ****ing contract and pay up the compo and get him and that clown Keane out.

Arter isnt really a defensive midfielder. Hendrick as capable of playing that role as Arter

But we can't have attacked in the first half, we didn't have creative players.

Never mind the fact we conceded a goal thanks to having too many men forward and made plenty of chances.

Centre half for a striker. Suppose that’s pretty brave.

It is like he wants to see how many Denmark can score for the hell of it at this point.

None of Denmark's goals were as a result of open football.

The first was a poorly defended set piece.
The second was a counter off a really poor mistake.
The third saw us picked apart after a period of Danish possession.

Ah stop. No one thinks Wes takes the game by the scruff of the neck. But he’s a different class in possession to some of our other players. You can even see that with some of his touches tonight.

Effort, bravery and spirit only get you so far. Imagine if we'd some quality to add to this. Individually we're awful. We've over achieved even getting to the playoff second leg with a chance.

Its still time for MON and Keane to go.

Tbh at this Id say **** Qatar in 22 even. We clearly need an overhaul from the bottom up, which goes to grassroots. We need to be rid of the likes of Delaney for any hope in the medium to long term.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 721 ✭✭✭weadick

Sick of seeing opposition supporters coming to Dublin and laughing at us.

The Danes look like they want to give us a good hiding. Maybe it wasnt such a good idea for Myler to say they have no character or heart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,468 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

    Grim.

They are a better side but pretty much all of this is Ireland's own doing.
