Soil going white on top?

    A few of my plants soil are turning white. Looks like mould ? Any reason for this?
    I thought it was due to watering the plants on top but doesnt seem to be the case

    Are they in pots? Anytime I've had that issue it's been down to overwatering.

    Yeah in pots. I only water once a week now to see if that was why and it still happens
