Anybody been watching this German drama series on Sky Atlantic? They have shown 4 eps so far (show 2 back to back). Excellent drama series set in "Cabaret"-era Berlin and featuring a mix of police/vice, social turmoil, political conspiracy and double-crossing, and some dollops of cool music too. Well worth checking out -seemingly it is the most expensive drama series ever made for German tv. Here's a taster:

Superb show. Amazing the amount of high-quality shows like this missed out by those who don't watch sub-titled shows.

Watched the first 4 of season 3 and this is still only warming up. Here's the gig; there's big expectation with this for me: really enjoyed the first two seasons, though the high expectation is tempered by the fact this is a different beast than other series of its ilk: it took it's time in the first season, and finished the main story arc towards the end of the second in thriller territory.
The stakes in the first 2 seasons turned out to be huge, but in this so far, they seem less so; however continuation of some of the storylines in the first 2 seasons into this might mean the stakes also turn out to rather large. Hopefully then, they plan to do the same, and extend this into another 2-season main story arc. Taking its time like this means the authentic feel of the time and place, as well as the characters and their world, can be enjoyed better.

Wow. Excellent stuff. As usual- but with a teaser opening about the time-period, season 3 is a slow-burn start building up to a really good ending. While there are many narrative threads happening- from small to big- they are woven together so well: the historical and social authenticity of the show leads to an engrossing watch, and heart-thumping finales. High quality in all departments, but most importantly overall, the characters are real, and you root for them. Even with the authenticity and realism, there is the occasional curious but effective blend of surrealism. This really is one of the best crafted drama/thrillers out there.

Well into season 4. As per usual, slow but intriguing start, as the background events gather momentum. It's such a great show - probably one of the most under-rated around.

Was having trouble with English subtitles, so in search of same, discovered this:

Brilliant news. (well, it's hardly news at this stage, bu ya know what I mean).
