Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are PP doing team top goalscorer markets? Can't see any on the website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,857 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

My primary proposals as of now are France and Brazil to reach the final
Panama, Iran, Saudi Arabia lowest scoring team.
Not sure on the second one though, looking pack over the years some pretty random teams have been the lowest scorers.

I went for a medium stake on Poland to reach the quarters @3/1 with BetStars. They could face either England or Belgium in the last 16, and I doubt Martinez can coax anything special out of the latter.

    Sterling top scorer @ 150/1

888 sent me a 25 euro free bet so throwing it on that.

Who do they tip to win it and top goalscorer?

    Langdon's tips:
    Spain outright
    Spain/Argentina final
    Uruguay e/w

    Player of the tournament:
David Silva, Philippe Coutinho, Kylian Mbappe

    Dan Childs' Golden Boot tips:
Gabriel Jesus, Edison Cavani, James Rodriguez, Raheem Sterling, all each-way.
    Childs also tipped Spain outright.

Pullein went for Argentina, Davies chose Brazil, Milton tipped France and Didi Hamann tipped Brazil - maybe he's sorry his country humiliated them 4 years ago.

    Pullein went for Argentina

Argentina are more likely to not get out of the group than to win the thing. Also strange pick for an Argentina Spain final, meaning one of those teams has to finish second in their group for it to happen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,558 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

Croatia could top group D,wouldn't be a massive shock .

It was Spain - Brazil final.

And the basis for picking Argentine outright was that they are the best value top tier team having gotten to extra time in the final of the last 3 tournaments they've played in.

I read the whole lot last night

Mainly, main tips to win it O/R are Spain and Brazil and couple for Germany

They like uruguay as an outside bet and Colombia could go far as easy draw

England shouldnt be written off fully as good balance in the team

For groups Uruguay best and Colombia, also think Peru should qualify and Spain to win and struggling to qualify are Portugal, Poland and strangely one guy think France will struggle

Top scorers - Jesus, they like Cavani and also English/Belgium players as Panama and Tunisia are ****e

Crap teams are Japan, Panama worst, Saudi Arabia, Oz

They dont like the Scandi teams at all - Denmark,Sweden,Iceland

    Boom

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,558 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

Isco POTY at 33s is worth a few quid .He was excellent in qualifying and if Spain do well,he will most likely be one of the reasons. They have problems at CF so he could be one of their main goal threats.

Lukaku or Hazard for Belgium penos? Have a feeling there's going to be quite a few with VAR

Any good guides online based on top players for each team form tactics etc?

This is a pretty good group-by-group guide if you're not looking for something really stat-heavy.

Im suprised at the lack of German picks. Won all 10 of their last games. Have a sensational striker in Timo Werner and its a squad of quality winners. Am i missing something that these guys see?

Edit: i'll be putting a few on Timo to be TS @ 14/1

    No natural leader doesn’t help.

Last WC they had Lahm, Schweinsteiger. 2 big losses to the team

I noticed this myself. I can't remember the last major tournament the Germans haven't made at least the semis to.

The Germans are still second/joint favs in the bookies so there is plenty of support for them. They won't be far off it ,last 4 at least.

    Yeah, drugs ban.

He's back in. Put a small amount on the three below to qualify from their groups:

    Senegal 5/4
    Mexico 11/10
    Peru 7/4

    Two bets tonight done:

    Most Goals: Group G @ 3/1 (Betfair)

Group winners: Uruguay, Spain, France, Argenina, Brazil & Germany @ 11/1 (free bet on this)

    Finalists: Brazil & Germany @ 12/1

    Winners:France (13/2)

Uruguay to win Group A (got at evens months ago)

    Top Goalscorer: Lukaku(18s), Cavani(25), Giroud(40), Reus (90) (all e/w)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭ittakestwo

Why do a lot of bettors not like exchanges when you can better odds on them. You can get France at 15/2 to win on Betfair. Even when you take into account commission it still comes in at over 7/1

Messi, Neymar and Griezman to score 3 + goals at 6/1

Where this special, can't find it?

I like Messi to score a free-kick 3/1 in Powers.

Somebody talk me down from a small punt on Japan to be the lowest-scoring team @20/1 with Coral/Lads. Bar today's comeback against Paraguay (*pfft...*), they've underwhelmed recently, and their manager Akira Nishino only took over in April. OTOH, Nishino has an AFC Champions League trophy (2008, with Gamba Osaka) on his CV.

For a back-up, I also fancy South Korea in this market @12/1 (Lads/Coral/365). They have Germany, Mexico & Sweden to contend with, but like Nishino, their manager Shin Tae-yong has also won the AFC Champions League in 2010 with Seongnam, and won the East Asian equivalent of the "Home Nations" competition last December after taking over, including a 4-1 win against Japan.

I'd say go for it. Biggest risk is if the Argies flop disastrously but even then I'd say Leo would manage 3.

I'm liking the look of Ladbrokes special De Gea golden glove and Spain win World Cup @20/1. Surely if the latter comes off the former is a formality?

Anyone any good tips on top team scorer? Always think you could clean up in that market at a major tournament if you knew your stuff...

    I've been busy:

    Spain winners 6/1
    Greizmann top scorer 10/1

    Uruguay to win group 8/11
    Iran bottom 8/11
    Australlia bottom 4/6

    Australia under 2 points 11/10

Russia not to win a game 8/1 (B365)

    Straight forecasts (B365):
    Uruguay/Egypt 7/1
    France/Peru 10/3
    Colombia/Senegal 7/1

    Winner top scorer doubles:
    Spain/Salah 300/1
    Spain/Neymar 80/1
    Spain/Greizmann 100/1

PP specials (odds have all come in):

    Spian/Germany/Brazil/France to make semis 40/1

    They are seriously seriously tempting.

Yeah they are on PP and betfair in a few different versions - you're talking about 12-15 matches so its very unlikely...

but at the same time I have convinced myself its extremely likely! Odds have come in on some of them alright but still a fun bet for interest.

I reckon the biggest threat is actually Iran nicking a point somewhere, they drew v Nigeria in the last world cup and they gave Argentina a right go only for Messi to score deep in injury time.

Yeah, don't think Iran are as bad as some other Asian sides.

888 (and probably Unibet too) offer 30/1 for Ronaldo to post a picture of himself with the trophy to Instagram after winning it. I think that's way better value than just betting on Portugal outright. :pac:

Wouldn't discourage you from taking that Japan bet at all, in fact I might have a go at it myself. The only thing that would put me off is they're in a group with Senegal, who are capable of losing to anyone on a bad day. Don't fancy SK at all though, I'm looking at Iran at the same price.

Yeah I like that 8/1 on them not to win a game too - if they don’t win tomorrow it’s hard to see them picking up a win v Egypt or Uruguay.
