Valid device, but not a true successor to Redmi Note 4.

Don't know much about that version and there is not much discussion about it, so not a popular device.

well apparently its on its way from China and I should have it in a week. Ill let you all know what I think of it when it arrives. I ordered 64 GB with Nillkin Glass, fingerprint sensor etc . A load of stuff that came in around 135 euro . I'll let you know if I get stung at customs for any taxes.

Xiaomi is a solid brand that make a range of electronics or brand items from manufacturers they source (powerbanks, chargers, wifi led lights and other home automation stuff, wifi routers, robo vacuums etc etc). Most of their products are very good. With phones they make phones from budget (60 euro) to flagship (600 euro) so the whole range.

I have the Note 4, a MiBand 2 & a Powerbank. All are excellent quality. I would chose Xiaomi without hesitation

Same here except I have a redmi note 2 prime going on three years plus mi band, some power banks, usb LED lights, great during power cuts, can't fault any of these items.

Option C will probably tie you into a new contract and you will end up paying more for the phone in the long run.

Has anyone got a call confirm app to work? I occasionally make unintended calls. Apparently non of these apps work on miui.

I activated it by downloading a google camera apk for snapdragon processors and had to edit the build properties file. Your device needs to be rooted to do this.

I did it for the hdr+ option but to be honest, I think you need a tripod and remote to notice the difference. Hdr+ basically takes 3 pictures at different exposures so that you get more accurate colours in your photos. The only problem there is that you need to keep the camera quite steady.

I ended up just going back to standard pictures.

I might be wrong here but I think it allows you to manually control the shutter speed too. I use Open Camera and it lets me do this.

The Global Note 4 needs a 4x screen protector. The Note 4 has the LED on the right, the Global, snapdragon version has it on the left.

redmi note 4 seems to be running low on stock as it's run out and prices are not as cheap as they were.

Some are reporting reduced battery life. My battery dropped after the update but seems back to normal.

what link - one for the mi a1? the eglobal one? (ebay seller link is eglobal also).
I've bought from them in the past - no issues - may take a week to receive, that's all.

Notifications look a bit different. You can assign a contact speed dial to each digit on the dialler. Haven't really noticed much else.

I have been having a problem with my note 4 . While on phone calls the speaker is crackling and distorted. It's difficult to hear what the person on the other end is saying.
Has this come up before as a software issue?

Anyone elses note 4 bend. I am on my second. First seemed to bend a little which I blamed myself for thinking I must of sat on it. Then I did drop it and smash the screen. So I bought another and after 2 weeks it cracked the screen which after I examined it was due to it bending. I definitely knew it was not due to being sat on or anything. Brought first phone into local repair shop yesterday and he said it looked like battery had expanded.
Didn't bother trying to return phone as I never get anywhere as it's always blamed on user error

I've noticed reduced battery life since the update. Only other thing is different look to the notifications.

Yes I though that but now I am not so sure. I installed AccuBattery & there is no obvious increase in power usage.

Did you left it to charge covered with something or in the warm spot in general like near the radiator etc? I can't remember what phone it happened to, but it was the case with my husbands old phone when he threw his jumper on it while it was charging.

What device are you comparing the regular to?

Redmi Note 4 and Redmi Note 4X are essentially the same device, just for different markets. Just make sure to get a Snapdragon Version with Band 20 Support.

If not in a rush to buy, consider waiting for the Redmi Note 5(/Pro)[WHYRED][Global]

I just did a factory reset on my Redmi Note 4X and now its asking me to sign into Mi account but its saying its associated with a different account ID. It doesn't let me sign in using another method, eg with email address or phone number. Has anyone come across this before? I did a factory reset before and never encountered this.

Make sure your using the same account you first setup the phone with.

    Check your accounts on i.mi.com

If you got the phone second hand or came from a reseller who may have setup the phone prior to giving it to you. You would need to source the account details from them.

If your bootloader is unlocked, you should be able to flash custom roms without any problems.

I was very happy with the this phone until this update. Now I'm not so sure. I have a suspicion it's collecting data on me in the background & without my permission. (I don't have a miui account).

A Cheetah 'cleaner' app wants to upload my deleted files to its server.
"this feature uploads folder names to update Cheetah Mobile's online database and requires your device's ID"

A system app called APP(?) seems to be serving me ads. Can't disable it.

It turned on Google Assistant without my permission (I think)

    Notifications layout seems 'messy'.

Don't know who to blame... Before, when I sent myself gmails, Gmail stayed silent. Now it pings that I have a new message from myself. Only started happening after the miui update...

I knew someday I'd be putting a custom ROM on it but not so soon :(

Even Xiaomi.eu debloated custom rom still has some china stuff remaining, including the cleaner app.

Above has kind of reinforced the need to go the custom rom root asap on my next xiaomi device.

Edit: - You could filter your own emails so they don't appear in the inbox, triggering a message.

Think it has already been sold!

The listing doesn't list what bands it supports also overpriced for specs:-

    Internal 16gb, 3 ram

Ask the seller some question about the device to clarify.

A better version can be got from Honorbuy for €149.39 + €19.09 shipping.

Price around some resellers, they are probably trying to shift remaining stocks before the Redmi Note 5 gets a global release.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Global Edition 5.5-inch 3GB RAM 32GB ROM Snapdragon 625 Octa-core 4G

Bought this phone last year, and am still delighted with it. With that in mind I've decided to get the exact same phone for the wife, as her old Lenovo is getting a bit slow.

Found it on Banggood for €114. Delighted with that price!

I ordered it last Thursday, and it shipped today via the 'Slow Boat from China' as we're in no hurry.

Edit: Up to €140 now. Hopefully a few got on at €114.

Lineage OS is very good. Nice and clean. It's a pity that unlocking the bootloader takes a while.

I decided to try out Resurrection remix OS which borrows heavily from Lineage on mine to shake things up a bit. It's been running perfectly since then. It's not really any different from Lineage except for a bunch of additional configuration options.

Everything works fine on Lineage as far as I can tell. Not had any issues at all.

Have a look at the release notes here.

I used Lineage OS for over 9 months and found it fantastic. I recently upgraded it to PixelExperience for Redmi Note 4. I have to say it makes the phone almost perfect. Fast, smooth, great battery life and very clean. Just like having a real Google pixel phone!
