Is there any such thing as a provisional patent application in Ireland?

If so, how much would it cost and who should I contact? The Irish Patent Office?

I have a product that I want to launch on kickstarter, I would only be willing to pay full patent costs if the campaign is a success.

I hear that a provisional application can secure your idea for a year?

    Thanks for your advice.

Yes, such a thing exists. Think it costs between €3-5k to submit it yourself. Talk to a few patent attorneys. First consultation is usually free.
