    Nicked from another forum.
    Something to look forward to.

Road racing will return to the UK mainland in 2018 with an all new road race set for the 4/5th August 2018 in the Brecon Beacons and riders including John McGuinness and Dean Harrison are already confirmed.

The Welsh Road Race event is the brainchild of a number of key players within the road racing fraternity including Derek Smith (Chairman of Aberdare Park and General Secretary of East South Wales ACU) and Phil Morris (Businessman, team manager and owner of Oswestry Road Racing Museum).

Former BSB and TT winner Steve Plater is heavily involved in the project taking up the role Safety and rider liaison Director.

The Clerk of the Corse is Gary Thompson, the highly respected clerk of the course for the Isle of Man TT.
The circuit itself is a dramatic and undulating 5.25 mile lap located North West of Brecon in Wales. The entire circuit, access roads and surrounding area is all MOD owned meaning that the road itself is in excellent condition and there are no white lines, cats eyes and very limited signposts or road furniture.

“Unlike most road races, there is nothing to hit – no houses, no walls, no lampposts which is a major advantage. The track itself is fantastic, but because of all the blind crests and technical parts it won’t be easy to learn – it’ll take years to really understand it. It will be a time trial like the Isle of Man TT, but with ten second intervals and two riders setting off side by side. We’re going to have Lightweight, Electric, Supersport, Superstock and an Open class. We’re aiming for between 35 to 40 riders per class.

“For year one it’ll be a two-day meeting, but we’re hoping to include a full day of practice on the Friday, but going forward we want to expand it into a four or five day meeting and also hopefully introduce a Classic race
