Power Link 5.05 Kem won very easily last year in first handicap before going to Dubai.
Ran 3 times in Dubai in better company and not disgraced.
Now back with Jason Tate had his first run in the UK 28 days ago over 6 furlongs at Chelmsford running as if needing the race.
Should be fitter now and the booking of Murphy a plus.

I have no idea if Power Line is ready to go this evening but I believe the horse will do well this year so I could not resist a score ew at 20s in Ladbrokes and that is my only bet today.

Oisin is a help but the reason I had a small ew bet on the horse is that I think he has a couple of handicaps in him on the basis of what he has achieved and I am hoping he comes on for the run.
Only worth a small ew bet.

York starts wednesday and it looks as if we can look forward to good ground at this great meeting.

The 1.55 is a cavalry charge over 5 furlongs where luck in running is vital.

A few quid ew on the ultra game FINAL VENTURE,who was touched off in this race is my bet and PP is going 6 places (online at least).12/1 generally

NAYEF ROAD looks the value bet in the 3.oc at the price and i have already backed it with PP ew at 6/1 and 7s available in places and there is not a lot between NAYEF ROAD (who stays further) and a couple who are much shorter in the betting.

The other race that interests me is the 4.15 over 2 miles and i am happy to take on the first 4 or 5 in the betting.
EDDYSTONE ROCK won in good style at the Shergar Cup when running over 2 miles for the first time on turf and with 5 places available generally is a good ew bet.BLUE LAUREATE who finished 8th in that race without ever being put into the race by his Japanese apprentice rider is also worth a little ew at 16/1 and may have a good deal of improvement in him at 2 miles with 8 stone 10 on his back and Paul Hanagan on board.

I will have something like a fiver ew on Coolmore cast off AIRCRAFT CARRIER who won 3 on the bounce on the AW and looked as if coming into form at the Shergar cup last time beaten 8 and a half lengths by EDDYSTONE ROCK,dropped 4 pounds is worth a small bet at the 40/1 available.

I quite fancy cottonvale 11/2 8pm Worcester ew and pp paying 4 places.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭munster87

Taking a chance on Severance in the 8:15 for interest. Has been running at a higher level than this but not great of late. 4/1 seems fair in this small field.

Another competitive card at York where finding winners wont be easy but a few i fancy are decent prices and might be worth backing ew.

Aiden Obrien sends PRECIOUS MOMENTS (still a maiden after 4 runs) for the group 2 at 1.55. The filly disappointed last time when only 4th of 8 at Leopardstown over 7 furlongs in a group 3 in july.

Before that she ran well a half a length behind Albigna in a group 2 at the Curragh over 6 furlongs, form that gives her a big chance here.
I was told this horse was very well regarded before she went to Royal Ascot and finished 5th of 27 in the group 3 Albany stakes (i think i put her up Boards as a bet for that race) and i backed her.

Lightly raced she will need to improve a little to win here but Obrien would not send her unless he thought she had a chance and i believe she is very good value ew at 10s.
The 3 oc over a mile is real good handicap with lots of specialist milers on show and is always a good betting race.
Kynren has run 14 very good races on the trot and is well due a race like this, however he last won a handicap off 79 in 2017 and has not got his head in front since even though he now has a mark of 101.He is sure to figure but at odds of 4/1 or 9/2 he is not for me.
BALTIC BARON was 5th of 20 in a very good handicap at Goodwood and did not have the best of runs.
Trained by David OMeara who always has his tuned up for his local track is my main facy.

VALE OF KENT 12/1 ridden by Dettori also has a good chance and FIRMAMENT 12/1 also trained by OMeara could run into a place in a race he has won in the past.
In a race like this i do not mind having a saver on a second horse and backing a couple ew.

My only other bet at York is SALAYEL in the 4.50 who i have backed already at 5/1 ew for a decent amount.

SALAYEL could be the bet of the meeting and i am certain she is a lot better than her current mark of 91,she has only had one run for trainer Roger Varian since coming from Dubai, going down by a head over 7 furlongs at Newmarket after a 4 month break.

Very highly regarded SALAYEL is expected to win tomorrow before going up a grade or two.

Was looking for a fourth horse to stick in an ew lucky 15 with 3 of the above and decided that NORAB was the only one i could consider in a poor two mile two furlong handicap at Chepstow which is little better than a seller.

NORAB has come down a bit after 562 days off and after 4 runs should be ready to go.The Balding horse, Constraint is fav and being a 3 year old should run the legs off these but the horse is very slow and the fact that Balding has to send him to Wales for a pittance of a prize over a marathon trip says enough to convince me that 2/1 is not a price i would be taking.

One that would have a bit of a chance is Danglydontask who won this a couple of years ago and whose new trainer sends it back to Chepstow.I think the horse would be better on faster ground but is not without a chance especially if not going off in front.

painful day on the photo finishes

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,704 ✭✭✭zimmermania

Most of those i mentioned and backed ran well and no great harm done.I was right about the Balding horse being useless despite going off fav and the two i mentioned finishing 2nd and 3rd,one beaten a head.

The 3 oc York worked out almost as i hoped though Baltic Baron was diappointing as was OBriens in the first but no great harm done and week going very well.

Only had time to go through one of the handicaps last night, the 1.55 York, may get a chance to look at some more later.

MANDARIN looks to have a good chance on his run behind Indianapolis in the Shergar Cup and is worth an ew bet around the 8/1 mark. Two others who also ran in that race run again today,GENETICS and RESTORER.

Genetics was given an easy lead that day and was only just caught on the stiff Ascot finish and would not want to let go too far in front on the less demanding York track.
The four horses in the Shergar cup were ridden by visiting jockeys and the result might have been different if they had their usual jocks on board.
There might not be a lot between them today at the slightly altered weights and i expect MANDARIN to come out best.

GENETICS and RESTORER are around 33/1 and that price is too big so i will have small ew bets on both. Indianapolis has a penalty now and may not be quite good enough today, RESTORER is now becoming well handicapped and is 3 lbs lower than when winning a class 2 handicap over a mile and a half at Leic and should not be 33s.

PP going 6 places in this online, not sure about the shops but is is likely that BAR-ONE will be 6 places in the shops.

    Takumi 4.25 new.Alnadir 7.15 Chel.Cotai Again 6.05 Goodwood.Ten Sovereigns 3.35 York in a lucky 15.

Celtic Art ew 9s pp 4 places 4.15 York.Paul Cole farms this race so this should have a chance.
IRV 4.50 York has won last 2 races here up in the weights and class but is an ew bet at 9 to 1 5 places.
