Id say the chances of getting insured on that is extremely slim and getting a reasonable qoute remote id say. Your driving experience and the age of the car will really count against you.

If the car is over 15 years old you won't have many insurance companies to choose from anyway.

Powers insurance, are pretty good. I have a list that I can post up later of companies that were willing to insure my Dc5.
I did find a good few companies that were willing to insure it (despite it being a Japanese import and the age of the car) but you'll definitely pay for it, especially with your driving experience. Best of luck, I'll post up that list later

Try Autoline too. They are in the north but they insure cars/drivers south of the border too, including me.

Did you get a full license?

    Yeah about 9 months

At the best of times jap cars and insurance companies don't go well together. With a full license for only 9 months and a years driving experience built up very few will entertain you id say.

Really? is that legal and will they provide a disc?

Sorry, only just saw that. Well I'm not a lawyer but they are well aware that me and the car are south of the border. The policy premium is given and charged in Euro and yes, they provide an insurance 'disc' for display in windscreen. As it happens I have received my renewal paperwork in the post today. I've been using them for four years now.

What I should say is that this is for a 1993 Eunos Roadster (MX-5) which qualifies for one of their 'classic' policies and it is a limited-mileage policy. I don't know if they are able to offer cover for daily use cars (or whether anyone looking at this thread is looking for that). Still, they are very helpful so I'd say it's worth a phone call.

Yes, it's 100% legal - they issue Allianz Certs, including RoI disc.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
