Depends on what Christmas means to you.

Following it through to the Epiphany on January 6th is what matters here. We respect and observe that deeply

Not just tradition but meaningful respect

Lights up until the Three Kings arrive here.
Once everyone is back in work on the 2nd there is no way people still want to celebrate Christmas.

    It’s over.

I know tradition is the 6th but that doesn’t make it fun!

    Just forced.

How we differ! Advent for us is a quiet reflective time. Decorations and lights on hold until Christmas Eve
This year has been awesome as I have been alone out here all Advent so no hype etc.

Best Christ-Mass for many years and on to 6th now

100% this. It simply goes too fast and I'm always ultimately left with the feeling I haven't had enough 'Christmas '
As I said in a post about a week or so ago the build up seems to peak around the end of November, then its into crazytime and before you know it, its over!

Had a good rant to the wife last night about how all the Christmas music channels are gone and the cookery channel has nothing festive on it anymore, Christmas starts on the 25th of Dec, not ends!!!
People work so hard in the run up to Christmas i wish they could could just relax and enjoy the season because as all the Elves on here know once the spirit of Christmas gets in you, it's there all year round :)

I've still lots of grub left - will probably take me to new years day - pudding, cake, crisps, cheese, crackers, chocolate blah blah blah...

Probably take the tree down on the 4th.

Well my plans have changed. I was leaving my parents' house last night and discovered some lovely person had crashed into my car and driven off. So it's in no condition for 2 hours on the motorway today. Really p'd off with the type of people that can just create such damage to someones life and then go about their merry way. I came home to disturb burglars in my house back in January and now my car has been victim of a different type of criminal. So my 2019 was bookended in one of the crappiest ways!

Oh no, iguana- that is crappy luck. :( What a rotten thing to do to someone.

How is your mum feeling now? I hope she's on the mend at least.

    Ah no :(

That’s terrible iguana how someone could do that and drive off.

She was worse yesterday than she had been on Stephen's day, but definitely a bit better today. Still feeling mostly crappy though. She's the type of person who would normally cut the grass and paint the kitchen if she had the type of bug that would keep most of us in bed, so for her to take to bed over Christmas, she was feeling truly, truly awful. We'll do some nice Christmassy stuff next week when she's properly better.

Sorry to hear about your car iguana. I can't even comprehend how someone could just drive away after doing that. :(

Unrelated but I'm just after reading this and had to share in case some of you didn't see. I think it's so incredibly creative and clever and I would definitely buy these because cash can feel so cold at times.

I'd say there is good odds they'd had a few drinks and didn't want to be caught over the limit.

Hadn't even thought of that but I'd say your right. Double dose of awful in that case.

Happened my dad a few years ago on Christmas day. Called in to our relatives in cabra and about 10 minutes after we arrived a car ploughed into our parked car and took off without so much as a look back. We didnt get the reg so they got away with it... we ended up having to get my aunt to drive us home as my dads car was undriveable. The real killer was the fact he had only collected it brand new about a week beforehand. He was raging!!

Just back from the first big shop after the big Christmas shop.

A bit disappointed in Dunnes only gift sets are on offer and not festive foods. Although it’s still Christmas I suppose and lots of people will be having New Years parties.

Glad to have the shop done tho.

With careful planning I am leaving it three weeks between shopping. Usually two weeks ...Between the weather and ferry disruptions and folk being away I carry stocks of basics for a couple of months. Still abundant fresh food ; cat food in abundance... !

    I almost forgot we're into the 360's!

I posted last week about not being able to order our Christmas Pavlova.
It worked out fantastic for us. We made our own.
It was fresher, nicer and everybody got exactly the fruit they wanted.

Back at work and shattered from the flight with the wee one and straight in to work. Really miss when she was so small and just slept. She has no idea whats going on god love her. Her feeds and sleep schedule will be messed up a few days.

My OH woke at 1am and stayed awake till 4am, she didn't want to go down stairs to avoid waking me so instead 'quietly' unsuccessfully rummaged through my carry bag which was in our room to get a phone charger, so then put on a light to help, then left the light on to read. All to ensure she didn't wake me by going down stairs....So my alarm went at 6am, after a blissful few hours sleep and I am flagging in work.

I have a 1.5 hour drive at the end of the day to collect my OH's surprise gift and then a 1.5 hour drive back.

Loughc I hope your mam is on the mend? My OH's grandparents all took ill over Christmas. We were in the regional hospital from the 22nd as her grand dad took very ill, I think we said our final goodbyes when we visited the last day. He was too ill for our little one to be allowed in to see him and he couldn't speak so it was very tough on my OH.

Christmas forum still buzzing I see. I would advise any newbies to hang around for the year. Its the best place online.

We did the first post Christmas shop yesterday, easily the smallest shop we'll have for the year as we bought way too much in the pre Christmas big shop... our dunnes still had loads of Christmas stuff out which usually leads to me feeling the first shoots of post Christmas blues but I was grand.... its a bit weird actually, we were out last night with my in laws and we all agreed it was a lovely Christmas and everyone was enjoying it but to me it didnt feel that 'Christmassy'... whether it was the work chaos interrupting the build up or the kids getting older and losing interest in some of our traditions or whatever it just felt/feels odd this year and I cant quite put my finger on why... one thing is the same as ever though, the days are flying by in a blur, so glad I still have a full week off.

My mam is better but has a long way to go for recovery. January will tell a lot when she goes to see the specialist. Sorry to hear about your OH grandparents. It must be even tougher on ye living so far away.

I agree with Jude stick around for the post Christmas season ye guys keep the cheer alive all year for us all :)

So I’m just back from a friends house and I was wondering what ye all make of this. In a dish he had roses, quality street, jellies and Ferreo Roche’s all in the same dish.

What ye think? Pick and mix style yay or nah?

    Personally I think he’s a manic.

The Ferrero Rocher are safe in their box in the sitting room though :D

    Batsh*t crazy, mind you.
