I always understood the option foř feedlot was if the herd they were moving into had feedlot status (only one way out/can buy from uncleen herd etc) and all other normal herds were consider holdings

I am not an expert on this issue

Feedlots are different to normal herd numbers as the animals can only go to the factory out of it. So you'd be looking more for B&B movement which I think is just farm to farm (holding) on CMMS.
This is the one showing up on the Dept site (it'll download if you click so maybe wait unless you're at a laptop)

    makes sense

holding is now farm-farm, counts as a permenant movement then

AFAIK if you do go the B&B route over the holding to holding, it means that you remain the owner or keeper of the stock. Whereas if you do the full holding transfer it will appear that your neighbour is the full owner for the period of time that they're in his number. Either way it still shows up as a movement but you get a bit of added security with the B&B permit.

I don't know if you can......with the archaic IT system the dept has it's surprising we can even do movements online at all. That link above is the form that you can send in the post though.

In a B&B scenario - As far as I know both herds have to apply to their local/respective DVO's to be approved prior to any movement of stock.

We put cattle into a b&b in the summer,(stud farm) our dept vet said just transfer them normally & transfer them back when your finished. It’s easier & less messy than applying for b&b.

    Don’t choose thefeedlot option I’m 99% that’s wrong.

how do you tally your cattle movements then at the end of the year for tax if they go down as permenant movements

Are you not adding 2 movements on the cattle ID if you don't use B & B?
