    Hi,

Not a BOI customer but would like to avail of the Preferred Faculty Student Loan. Do I need to have a BOI account for a certain amount of time before I can get this loan? Is there a minimum I need to have in the account to be able to drawdown the loan?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch with us through Boards.

You don't need to be a Bank of Ireland customer or have a minimum balance to apply for this kind of loan. You maybe asked for proof of qualifications if you're not an existing Bank of Ireland customer.
You can apply for this by popping in to a branch of Bank of Ireland or by calling our lending team directly on 0818 200 334 and the advisers there will be more than happy to talk you through this.

    Thanks again for your message.
    Darren.

Just one more quick question Darren, if the guarantor of the loan is not a BOI customer, is it necessary for them to get a form from their own bank or will filling out their details on the loan application be sufficient? Got the forms in a BOI branch today and I think the rep. mentioned something about the guarantor needing a form from their own bank?

    Hi kerryked,

It should be listed on the form what you will need otherwise, as it's account specific, you'd need to contact the adviser you dealt with.

    Thanks
