Hi, I am looking for a replacement for a Sony BDV-E2100 unit. The unit has developed it's second fault in 3 years and no interest in paying to have it repaired. Happy to keep the speakers from this unit. Don't necessarily need the Bluray player function, would like bluetooth.
    Appreciate any recommendations, thanks.

    Hi GKP1,

thanks for the mail - generally we dont do many of those 'all in one' units, we tend to recommend proper AVR separates - I'd recommend the Denon AVRX540 which is a proper AV receiver - you could use your existing speakers with the AVRX540 to start with but if I remember with your Sony system the subwoofer is a passive sub so to really get the Denon to sing you could use an active sub-woofer as well - something like the Yamaha NSSW050 - that combo would wipe the floor with your Sony from an audio point of view!

Our current discounted retail on that combo is £353 + £6.99 delivery

I can do you a Boardie deal on the Denon AVRX540 & Yamaha NSSW050 for just £329 including delivery,

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

Thanks for that John, sounds interesting. Is the active sub-woofer a necessity or a nice addition, i.e. can the Denon drive the existing passive sub?

    GKP1,

All modern AVR's use active sub-woofers now - potentially you could connect your sub-woofer to one of the front channels but it will not sound great as it will not properly reproduce the discreet Sub channel - honestly I'd say you are better off without a sub rather than messing around with a passive sub... and saving for a reasonable active sub..

Thanks again and keep us posted,
